I agree 100%.
Certain Imperial IPA's as well as some Hazy IPA's are tolerable to my taste buds but the run of the mill IPA's that seem to be so popular to most folks are like drinking liquid sour balls to me, but to each his own.

I usually have Worthy Stout in my beer fridge. It's close to my limit for hoppiness. (The craft beer industry has a serious hoppiness problem..I don't eat arbor vitae why would I want to drink it...).

Agreed, I gravitate to european styles when I can find them. Even then American Craft will take a Hefe and put just an ungodly amount of hops in when its supposed to be a showcase of the yeast and malt.

I'm having a Blinder Strawberry Lemonade, it's a Mike's Harder but bigger (9%ABV)

Milana Teikitisi Doble IPA (~8.5%) @Mono1

Big, bold double IPA. Maltier than expected with a solid backbone, then the hops kick in with a firm, lingering bitterness on the finish. Not a juice bomb. This one leans more classic and punchy. I like it.

I like IPA's on the hoppy side, but some are damned sour!

I'll let you all have the stouts and that chit called Guinness. I'd much rather drink water... Or Coors.

No pics, but I sampled a few different Ryes today. Started with a Dickel rye old fashioned. Not bad. Moved on to a Pendleton rye, good. Ended the session with a Rittenhouse rye, smoker than than the other 2. But so far, my fave is still Bullet rye.

Never had Pendleton Rye, but all of the other Pendleton's leave me wanting. Not enough bite and not much taste. Good for people that want to drink "neat" that aren't used to drinking whiskey. Still, cuz I like Ryes and Pendleton isn't too expensive, I might have to try it.
I also don't like at all the finish of any whiskey when it tastes like corn meal, and the regular Dickel had one of the strongest corn tastes I've ever tasted.

Reasons like I posted above are when the shelves are full of different beers and liquors. It's nice to have options!

Guinness was my first introduction to stout and fortunately I did not let that stop me from trying other stouts.
I honestly don't understand the popularity of Guinness, but I have been told that it tastes much better in Great Britain than over here in the U.S.

I used to date a gal from England (she's been back there for quite a while) She took me to the Dublin pub cuz she said it's the same there as "back home". I tried it and told her it tastes like bubblegum there (Dublin), too.
The only dark beer I ever cared for was McMenamins Terminator, but only when it was on nitro. Other wise it was barely better than Guinness.

A good friend of mine says, "No accounting for taste". And what he meant is, everybody's preference is different. He's right.

Hazy amber pour with a creamy head. Classic banana and clove on the nose, backed by soft malt sweetness. Smooth, slightly sweet, and dangerously drinkable for 7%... more easygoing than heavy.

Apologies @Mono1 , the craft beer place was closed today so I was slummin'. Late night most everything was closed so we walked down to the corner watering hole and enjoyed a cold and tasty...

Estrella Galicia – Lager (4.7–5.5% ABV)

Clean, crisp, and easy-drinking. Light malt, subtle hops, and a nice dry finish that's more flavorful than your typical lager.
Take: Simple, solid, and always a safe choice

And the tapas was very tasty, perfect with the Estrella.
