When I was 19 years old I bought a 1952 Chev 3100 Custom Cab 1/2 ton pickup it had a owner installed 235 L6 and truck 4spd. It had been on a farm its who life until I bought it. At the time the truck was 26 years old.
At 68 years old I am driving a 1998 Dodge Dakota Sport (extra cab) with a 3.9L V6 and 5spd. It started life as a State Weights and Measures pickup. I bought it from the guy that got it from the state auction. The truck is 28 years old.

I was trying to decide which is/was in better shape. Certainly the Body on the Dakota is better the Chevy had Sun faded Red paint with a hint of rust starting to show through. The 235 was strong the 3.9 just keeps going (now 234K)

I wish I had been able to keep the 52

In 1969 Dad bought a repainted 50 Chev 3100. That math is easy. We had it until about 83. My Sister and I would love to have that one back. It was pretty special to us.
Two years ago I bought a 97 F150. I drive it every day. Not a super high miler with 221K on it now. It's a 29 year old truck but it drives very well. I'd head to the east coast this morning if I needed to.

I learned to drive on grandpa's '52 Chevy truck. Starter on the floor, 3 on the tree. No, I don't have it.
In 1983 I bought a 1977 Harley. It had 3200 miles on the odometer. The title had someone else's name on it. He never had the title transferred. I asked how many miles he put on it. He said he zeroed the trip meter when he bought it 6 years ago. It had 630 on the trip meter.
In 1999 I bought a new Harley. I thought the 1977, at 23 years, was too old. Now the 1999 is 27 years old. Past time for a new one.
Oh yeah. I still have them both. And a 1955.

In 1975 I turned 15 and got my learners permit. The neighbor right next door was the manager at a Chrysler used car dealership.
Every week, he would be test driving a different used car.
You never knew what would show up every weekend.
His daughter was the same age as me, so luckily I was also invited along to learn how to drive.
We drove older classics, British right hand drive cars, trucks, Jeeps, station wagons, Lincolns, but by far the coolest was an Amphicar which could drive into water and motor around. I begged my dad to buy it for me.

When we lived in Sisters in the mid 60s, a guy from Bend would come out to Suttle lake with a couple of buddies, drive right down the boat ramp and straight out into the water. Shortly after they would be seen trolling the lake with fishing poles stuck out of the windows. Coolest thing I had ever seen.

I lived in Bend in the mid to late '60's and I think I remember seeing that car! Can't for the life of me remember what color it was, I want to say red, but I definitely remember the propellor!

Pinkish, if I remember correctly. I remember seeing it in front of a business on the corner of an intersection when we went to church in Bend.
