When it comes to earthquakes and seismic activity, lots of lesser movements are actually preferred. It is when there is no activity over extended periods of time that pressure builds and is released all at once.

You have to keep in mind the Richter scale is a logarithmic scale and as you progress up the scale, the quakes are much, much more powerful (in the order of tens of times).

Umm, what's not good about this? Unless it's 4.0 you probably don't even feel it, and really it doesn't start to get exciting until it's over 6.5.
