If there is any one book that might singlehandedly convert gun skeptics, it would be this one. Just published by Professor Akinyele Umoja of Georgia State University, We Will Shoot Back: Armed Resistance in the Mississippi Freedom Movement is an academic look at Black militias who played major roles in destroying official American apartheid in the Civil Rights era. This is the most socially relevant book I have read in a long time.
