So... We have a threat of violence that nobody acts on, a protection order against him, and he's already prohibited from owning firearms... So why the hell didn't they execute a search warrant when he communicated a threat to shoot up a police station?

What is interesting to note is that with all of the firearm laws , bans restrictions and requirements already in place....
None of them stopped the guy in the OP from having firearms.
