Good morning Jim still learning on how to navigate this forum I saw your thread and I thought I would put up a little porn from our friends in Hartford Connecticut:

1942 Original finish Colt WB stamped

While I wait my turn on my last 2 cmp pistol's I am always watching for lost diamond's in the rough this 84 year old girl has been lost to Father Time and 2 safes since 1942 I am the new caretaker for now .
First off a little history on 1942 Original Colt built pistols.
This pistol was built approximately a little less than 11 months since Dec 7th 1941.

1942 WB STAMPED COLT

S/N 838,978 was made either in October 42 Colt production was 10,750 pistols this month they had 3 different shipments to Springfield Armory

It could have been made in November 42 Colt production was increased to 17,400 pistols this month they had 7 different shipments to Springfield Armory

I will put in for a colt letter to narrow down production date.

1942 production increased 3 times more in 1942 over 1941 Colt manufactured 107,790 pistols in 42. Only about 17.2 % of all Colt 1911a1 production

All slides continued to have the frame serial number behind the firing pin stop.

Starting in August 1942 the Colt stocks/grips were strengthened on the inside with reinforcements on the inside of the grips and larger reinforced rings and the checkering is more corse and deeper for better griping, These stocks were used for the reminder of Colt WW2 production.

The original Finish on this Colt is Parko-Lubrite parkerized finish .

The Original barrel is Du-lite blued With the Letter "S" forward of the lug

1942 was the first year for colt to use Magazine sub contractors This Colt has a Colt-Scovill made magazine, Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury Connecticut manufactured the magazine parts and the magazine were assembled and completed by Colt at Hartford Connecticut.

This Colt is stamped with Colonel Waldemar Broberg even though he was reassigned in June of 1942

Lt. Colonel Guy H. Drewry was assigned as WB's replacement His inspection stamps started around s/n 841,xxx

The crossed cannon Ordnance escutcheon used as a final acceptance of the pistol started around serial number 830,xxx these were more Predominately seen in November production pistols.

Now for some pictures

Really neat piece, wonder if the flat grips that are out there for the Hungarian Pa-63 will fit that. They do for my FEG AP-MBP, which is also a Walther PP clone, but in .32 acp.

I bet pa63 grips would fit ,dont know about magazines. These did not have a magazine safey, pa63 was military ,these were commercial pistols .

1943 Inland M1 Carbine that landed at my LGS. Original and unmolested with all of the correct subcontractor parts where they belong. No evidence of an arsenal re-work.
