"..."It's 40 years of progress. Even a gas-powered car of today is much cleaner than the ones of yesteryear," said Andy Wineke, of the Washington Department of Ecology..."

the Washington Department of Ecology?

Really? Really? WTF?!!

Oregon needs to dump DEQ, but then the boys and girls at DEQ/PHL in Hillsboro wouldn't be able to afford more of those $100k boats and $65k 4x4s sitting in the yard next to their plush offices in Hillsboro.

A Gubberment program that actually ends. No EFFING WAY I'll bet no one looses their job as would a private company

Probably "created" 3x as many jobs as will be "eliminated" to study the "ecology"...and gave the actual folks whom jobs will be "eliminated" early/full retirement & beni's. Can't forget the beni's.

It's not like there's any fiduciary accountability when the moneys "free".

So vehicle the vehicle emissions problem is solved? Then why do they want to tax carbon? Oh, for the revenue stream....

It isn't solved, but the emissions testing is no longer effective (primarily from an economic perspective) in reducing emissions as most cars on the road meet emissions now.

I would expect this also takes into account the fact that electric cars are the future.

Orygun should follow suit IMO.
