This thread reads like people who are willing to buy a corvette for 100 grand, then bubblegum about the price of premium gas

Is the only up side the weight? If they can get the price down to what comparable brass case goes for I could see it for emergency use. Keep some for in case you needed to pack up. Of course Military would love it since to them cost means nothing. If it stays that much more than brass hard to see it making much market share.

A few months back and that would sell. Note that ammo is coming around a bit more frequently, this will sit there for a while. Only reason I see anyone buying it is for the collectible sake of it.

I can't believe that their composite plastic/aluminum case is that much lighter than a brass case. Maybe the actual weight reduction is in your wallet. $3 per round, Ouch!

watched a YT vid on various kinds of caseless and plastic case ammo

IIRC comments were made that the plastic cased ammo was half the weight of the brass cased ammo? which to me doesn't sound right either - most of the mass is in the projectile.

The first and most obvious difference between brass-cased and polymer-cased ammunition is a weight reduction of up to 40 percent that comes as a benefit with polymer. https://www.gunsandammo.com/editorial/true-velocitys-new-polymer-cased-ammunition/247607

Stopped by Bimart in Hillsboro off TV highway and saw that True Velocity now has their plastic case ammo for sale. This is the same style stuff they have on trial for the militaries NGSW rifle program. Neat to see it's available for us already.

I have a bunch of that type in 5.56 from 20+ years ago. Supposedly great for F/A. Back then it was just dot mil surplus and didn't cost any more than any other gimmicky crapola.

Oh my gosh….that cracks me up. Back when I was a member of the Porsche club we used to trash the Vette club guys who liked to sit in Albertsons parking lots on warm Saturdays to talk about their Vettes while we were out driving our P-Cars. The only thing missing from that pic is the deep-vee collar and gold neck chains.

Was in Lincoln city sports store. Plenty of ammo. High but reasonable priced for current standards. $10 for steel cased 5.56. $14-20 for brass. Even had pistol powder on hand.

Bimart has done a good job at having ammo in stock but their best in class prices haven't returned. $89.99 for 150rd box of 5.56. Last ammo I bought from memory was $69.99 for 200rd box at the end of 2020. I did buy some face to face ammo from folks on this forum this year.

The good news is ammo is available and people can shoot. For various reasons I haven't been out for a few months. A blessing and a curse but it's left me with ammo on hand so I don't have to pay these prices.
