I never have really trained for escaping restraints. It is my intent to never be in restraints from a home invasion or other situation. I have trained in how to distract attackers to give me time to draw and defend, I am not going to die with my hands tied up, but gripping my pistol with a pile of smoking brass on the floor would be preferred.
Once you are in restraints, you no longer control the situation and are subject to whatever the bad guys intend to do, giving them access to what ever you have available as well.
