I've read this before but just ran across a post in another forum about it and it got me thinking (again). This story hit close to home for me, as I used to live very near LA at the time and the riots are what got me into guns in the first place. I could smell the smoke and remember thinking "what if"... The next day I bought a shotgun. Then a pistol, then a rifle and so on.

It's a great read, check it out: Jew Without a Gun

They had this guy on NPR while the gun control debate was raging. It a really interesting story and a great read.

Me too. Thats why we moved our family north. Very strange times to wake up for two days afterward and it was still going on. Neighbors asking my wife to loan them a firearm. Made use rethink a lot of things.

I remember the article, it was very well written! I also remember the riots (we live in inner N.E. PDX) my neighbors and myself kept a low profile and weapons ready. Remember cheering the Korean merchants on TV!

I remember the riots... Scary times indeed. It was one of those times when my dad handed me my .308 mauser with the mandate of using it if need be.

Since then, I've made friends with more than a few others who had different experiences, including one whose first day at USC was the start of the riots, and another guy who's family are all korean business owners.

One thing I really wonder after watching and hearing all of the news coverage is if the news did way more harm than good. It was like a broadcast attack signal, and was telegraphing the response of the police, and fire department.

There wasn't a lot of rioting or looting in my neighborhood, but it was definitely danger close.

I grew up in the 1960's and lived through Watts and school riots not to mention the SLA, BPs, Weather Underground, SDS et. al. That was under a Democratic Prezy w/the same ideology as the current one but with far more restraint because the infrastructure was corrupted by socialists in only a few cities.
The various Leftists in their various guises have collectivized far more of the population and trained them not to mention the Terrorists that have been allowed to infiltrate not only the Homeland but the Federal Govt.
Big City Police are Unionized Stazi, they will dine on croissants and Lattes while the cities burn.
Milosivec used a similar game plan in the Balkans and it worked until NATO and the UN got involved
