I rarely post in political threads, but I find it ironic that a dem went on a shooting rampage against gun-friendly republicans at a baseball practice. Maybe a few eyes will open up here? Maybe not, but the parties can no longer blame each other and must stand united that our given right to keep and bear arms CANNOT be infringed. Whether against a tyrannical government or a unemployed home inspector, we ALL have the right to defend ourselves. This is clear.

This will only get worse and the left will NEVER own up to their responsibility in encouraging this attack. There are people praising this shooting on social media - including "journalists" from the Huffington Post.

I'm really not looking forward to this summer.

Yeah, I'm sure it's an easy topic for more gun control. It's also an easy topic for more guns.

HA! I'm investing in igloos being built in the 7th level of hades before any of what you posted even remotely happens.

What was it that schmuck Rahm Emmanuel said? Oh yeah, "never let a good crisis go to waste". o_O

And Scalise isn't particularly a friend of ours, nor are Lyin' Ryan, Swamp Turtle McCONnell and most of the eGOP side of the Two-Headed Bird of Prey... the Right Head's just not as aggressive about wanting to gorge on our livers as the Left one is.

According to NRA, Scalise has an A+ rating at least in regards to supporting firearm rights.

I'm not a fan of the terrorist watch list many of the GOP is promoting. Yes, today it will be to prevent Muslim radicals from buying guns legally, leaving the country or entering the country. Sadly, without Due Process, tomorrow, when the Democrats ever gain control again it will be used to incriminate anyone who is considered a "dissident" or "deplorable". Sadly, many of the GOP don't realize they are opening up a pandora's box that will be used by the Fascists when they gain control again in the future.

Nonetheless, whatever bad feelings I have for GOP politicians what was done today was the first step in a war against those who will not support the Democrat party. A Democrat party radical decided to forcefully shut us down and make us submit to the demands of their party. Basically, what this slimebag assassin attempted to do was start a revolution and civil war in our country. What was done today I feel is a far greater atrocity than the wrongdoings done to us by our own party. Sadly, I feel at times like this we even need to unite and leave our differences among ourselves behind because a much greater enemy is on the horizon. I am not saying to overlook the wrongdoings, but prioritize the threats we face.

In my opinion, the Democrats will eventually become so radical that it will in the future spawn an armed conflict. It may or may not be from the "Democrat party" we have to day, but rather offshoots of the party or new breeds of the party. I'm hoping it won't happen in my time, but I am not optimistic looking at the patterns of history.

I am actually almost quoting Winston Churchill at this moment who used the same logic to bring together Americans, Russians and every other ally to fend off the German/Axis blitzkrieg in WWII.

I'm confused. You're saying you warned the Republican controlled 114th Congress, who passed the renewed Patriot Act provisions, that President Obama would abuse the Patriot Act when he signed into law the legislation that they voted for? Legislation that was originally passed in 2001 by Congress, and signed into law by President Bush?

Not Obama specifically, but we warned that Democrats WOULD abuse Patriot Act powers as soon as they retook the Oval Orifice.

Seriously, have you ever READ the damn thing as passed? Lotta scary stuff in there...

So you warned the Republican Congress that President Obama would abuse The Patriot Act that they passed, and that President Bush originally signed into law. Except, you weren't really warning them about Obama, just Democrats in general. Got it.

Anyway, to answer your question, yes, I have read it. You're right. There is a lot of scary stuff in there. It's a shameful act, and America should be embarrassed by it. Back in 2001 our elected representatives used a national tragedy to push through legislation that eroded our liberties in the name of the illusion of safety. As Rahm Emanuel said, "Never let a good crisis go to waste" , right? Or, if you want to credit the man who coined that phrase, as Winston Churchill said it.

dont ya know ? if you even talk about "the pat act" you get put on a watch list.

Im from the govt and im here to make things better, ya dont need to read that, trust me, just pass it.

bah ms von pantsuit was right there is a basket of deplorables, she just had the location wrong

Why are we ranting about Elephants and Asses, when there's a bigger problem with ignorant MSM.
They're going to have a feast with this one:
A man who demonstrated a propensity for violence using firearms against other people, was allowed to keep his firearms. He then uses them against people playing baseball in a park.
Things we need to answer: His criminal case was dropped, should he have been allowed to keep his guns? Did firearm regulation break down?
Meanwhile, in San Francisco, a UPS worker goes postal at the sorting facility where he works, killing three others and then himself, and the article in CNN states, "When officers went inside the building, they found the suspect armed with an assault pistol, Assistant Police Chief Toney Chaplin told reporters." WTF is an assault pistol?

And the way it will spin up, guns are the problem. Right.
At least we don't have a sitting President who will push an agenda of gun control.

A bunch of people got shot, I hope they recover quickly. May the dead victims RIP. As to the shooters, may they BiH.
And us, standing around holding our cod piece, we need to educate people in whispers.
Let people absorb the thinking, "I need to be able to defend myself" and let them make it their own thoughts.

In what little time I have been here on the planet ... It seems that whenever there is a shooting , a call or push for more gun control is heard or seen.
No matter who is sitting in office , who was shot or whatever twisted ideas the shooter has or had.
I can't see that changing anytime soon...

Folks need to focus on the problem of violence and why some people resort to it , not whatever they used while committing their violent act.
Mankind has always been good at committing violent acts , even for the thousands of years before firearms were invented.
Just how many woman or kids are abused or beaten on a daily basis?
Would we stop this violence by banning fists or slaps?
Violence as means to get your message across or solve your problem , should be the concern ...

As for fighting the "backlash" ...
Maybe someone could show a side by side comparison of outcomes of when someone is armed against a shooter versus the outcome of when folks aren't armed.
Perhaps a study of states or areas with a high CPL / CCP /CWP or whatever it happens to be called and see if more or less shootings occur there.
Or see how many times a concealed carrier stopped a crime / shooter
(with or without shooting their firearm)
Maybe showing / study of the actual types of firearms used in crimes versus the numbers and types used daily by law abiding folks who harm no one.
Not that I think that any one type of firearm is" bad" or more "dangerous" than any other ... Just looking for some real world ( non biased ) numbers.

One thing is for sure , fighting among ourselves while the antis are united will not be helpful.

As a gun toting liberal Bernie supporter, I don't condone this guys actions at all. And neither do 99.9% of us. Just like 99.9% of Republicans don't condone violence against immigrants, brown people, gays, women or liberal politicians. The problem is hardly political affiliation, what the guy called himself is irrelevant, he was a nut job, just like any other terrorist.

I seriously doubt the AR market will be effected much, prices have been falling for years since Rep. Giffords was shot. I don't see how this is all that different. There were even the same baseless claims that the opposite party was to blame for instigating the violence, but nothing much came of it, because the guy was just a nut job, a stalwart product of modern American culture.

Infectious disease, starvation, malnutrition, poor food quality.... A lot of things come to mind before religion. If religion must be added for whatever anti-religion reason that is.

Stalin, Hitler, and Mao did a hella job between them, too. They have been retesting the mass extinction by Socialism concept with great success in Venezuela the last few years as well.

Religion has long been used as a tool of tyrants and despots, but itself is no more the reason for the loss of life or violence as is the SKS used by the coward yesterday. The coward is the criminal, not the tool he used.

Pretty much. Religion, knives, guns, etc are never the reason for the death, its the person.
