This is a dramatization, in fact the true events were much worse. The fella that got shot in the back was unarmed, he was black and the Dixiecrats in power wouldn't allow him to vote so they beat him pretty good. After the beating he still demanded to vote so they shot him. How could they expect to get away with this? They knew that no jury would find a white man guilty of killing a black man. That, the old-boy network plus terror tactics is how the 'Secret Society Dixiecrats' (KKK) held ultimate power in the south from Reconstruction through the Civil Rights era.
