Has it occurred to you that the folks that aren't getting a check are the ones that pay the lions share of taxes in this country? The bottom 50% of wage earners don't pay income tax, and get a refund because it's not fair that they don't. I know people that are on Social Security Disability. They get a check each month and their rent is paid by government. The minimum $1200 they receive is money that I paid in taxes. For me this is more a matter of the principle than the money. The governments shotgun approach to this problem, is the problem. Fairness and equal treatment only apply to minorities and low income people in this country.

I never had a tax refund always had to pay, never been on welfare, or used oregon health plan or any other assistance program so its my turn to get some and i dont fell bad about it one bit.

Aha! Father above knows how much I HATE taxes... I think that's why I married my wife... she was a bookkeeper and a tax preparer. Unfortunately she has lost her "stuff" and can no longer even pay bills correctly. Color me very bummed in so many ways!

Sadly this is far from anything new. Every year people who work in retail see the HUGE bump as those who never paid in walk in with several K burning a hole in their pocket. Many work so little they pay zero in but get a nice fat check back. Guess who pays for that? Wife and I owe only $2100 this year on top of what they already took. She of course is angry about this but I said what the hell. We can wait till June to send them the money we owe and before then they will send us a little more than we owe. So what the hell, go out and buy that new Ruger MKIV with the 10 inch tube you have been eye's and enjoy it.

I'm getting the full amount, I've worked my butt off, racked up student loans, been out of work twice, and still work pay check to pay check.

I've never taken a dime of gubment money, paid my high student loans off myself, worked two jobs many times before in my life, and I'm barely under the limit to get the full amount with two kids.

I'll gladly take the money.
I've sacrificed enough and always paid my own way.

After my sick time and vacation time is wasted on this pandemic I'll be on unemployment. Which I hate, and as soon as I can get back to work I will do so gladly.

Sadly people like you used to be the norm here. Now many will look at you as some kind of strange person who does not understand how things work. It's why I have long said if this free money ever shuts off it will be crazy times to live in. Hordes of people have never had to support themselves and have no clue how to or desire to learn. They will riot and seek to steal from those who have without giving it a second thought.

I often tell the younger guys I work with who are new to this. Enjoy, it is a hell of a lot of fun. Then they turn into teens and you often start thinking about retroactive abortions
I say the thing to look forward to is being a grand parent. You then get to spoil kids and send them home. Revenge is sweet

But her lawyer demanded what amounted to 95% of my income plus the house (paid for) and our brand new car which I owed money on. i was fortunate enough to escape with what I originally offered... the house, the used car (paid for), and child support for our one child. Yet she somehow expected ME to continue paying for her kids expenses. After I told her to go after her ex for child support, she ruined my relationship with ALL the kids.

One co worker is going through this for a couple years. They have kids and who knows who is to blame for things not working BUT, the Wife is making it her lifetime achievement to make it as hard as possible. The kids are the ones who pay. I like to browse reddit once in a while, mostly for r/EDC and r/CCW. I drop in on r/portland occasionally and the hate for business owners and landlords is somewhat shocking. I don't think they really understand where money comes from.

I know what you are saying... ya know, before no fault divorce, staying and working it out was a thing, leaving to get a pack of ciggies was considered low.... so personally, I stayed for 9.5 years of a 10 year marriage just to protect/shelter those kids, mostly from her!!!
