If it was truly a stealth aircraft, how come they know where it crashed?
Because they know where the carrier was when the plane bounced off the deck?

"The $100 million warplane impacted the flight deck of the 100,000-ton aircraft carrier and then fell into the sea as its pilot ejected, Navy officials said."

"Chinese salvage ships left port Wednesday and are heading towards the location of the sunken F-35C Lightning II jet, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation."

"The U.S. Navy has begun mobilizing units that will be used to verify the site and recover the F-35C aircraft involved in the crash aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) in the South China Sea, Jan. 24," Sims added.

Similarly, the Pentagon declined to comment on specific Chinese ship movements. A Department of Defense (DOD) spokesperson said in a statement that they "are taking appropriate planning actions to salvage our aircraft and recover in a timely manner as we have done in the past."

I'm going to have to side with Xaevian on this one because he's funnier! :)

Not sure why China cares. I'm sure Russia will be more than happy to send them a couple of wrecked aircraft from the Ukraine in a couple of weeks....

The F-35 is for sale anyway or soon to be to other countries so won't be so secret anymore. There are some countries that share the Tec after purchase with our enemies. The F-22 is not for sale no way no how for these reasons the 35 is nothing compared to the F22.

There's not even 200 F-22s total made. Same story with the 20 B-2s.

USAF wanted as many F-22s as F-15s ( or about 435 currently) and originally wanted 100-200 B-2s but no, Congress balked at the costs and curtailed/capped production of these two at ridiculously low numbers, thus skyrocketing the per unit price for them

Shhh. The F35 is a massive boondoggle. If we can get the CCP to try to build one, maybe we can bankrupt them like we did the USSR with the Cold War.

:D

They may sell an export version but they never sell the most advanced version of the avionics, weapons systems, etc. I wouldn't be so sure the Chinese couldn't learn something by ripping one of ours off.

On the other hand, maybe if we let them build them we could buy them at a discount.

They would sell the F-35 with vinyl seats and no A/C and definitely no extended warranty or undercoating.

They could sell them the way Oracle does it. "Oh, you want engines with it? Yeah, that's going to be extra. Avionics? You gotta check the box here. Also, I would totally make sure you've opted for landing gear. You're going to want that."
