Case is a .44 Mag. Headstamp if FC. The case on the left is one of mine after the sizing die. I started to size the one on the right and it decided it didn't want to get smaller, thus the band on the top. It didn't split, but I don't think it did the chamber it was in any good.

I don't know where it came from since I've had that box of brass since my range trip with the .44 Mag.

If I were going to guess, I would suspect someone fired it in a 45 colt diameter
chamber. If so---it would throw a heck of a fireball, but really not develop
much pressure. Looks like it did a fair job of fire forming it to the larger
diameter.
