La fin du meird

Given the creators of this republic feared a permanent military force on our soil because it would breed mistrust with civilians....

Pretty sure they would have sided with the populace should be BETTER armed then the government officials policing it. I mean what did they have, a night watchman that would make a fuss so the citizens could react and take care of things and later on a ticket taking constable that worked fee based.

One could argue they needed to be better armed to deal with urbanization and do their duty with a force advantage but, I don't think our founders would agree.

@E4mafia ...

I really shouldn't have answered in the first place....
I just get tired of seeing the term Sniper tossed about....Having done this "job" in the Army while on deployment in two different combat tours...it just gets old to me seeing "sniper" plaster all over the place when someone shoots a rifle....
Andy
Edit to add :
To me a "Sniper" is someone who is shooting from fixed position , usually hidden , at intentional targets , precisely.
Note this is not to be confused with a murderer who shoots others this same way...he is a murderer...not a sniper.
The preferred terms in criminology are LDK/LDSK, "Long Distance Killer/Serial Killer." Of course the media and certain media-whores in LE cling to "sniper" because it sounds scarier... most of them individuals who aren't fit to serve as human urinals never mind any position of responsibility like protecting or informing the public.

Outside of .22s, what are low powered rifles? The point of rifles is present projectiles at a higher velocity than handguns. Just say rifle and drop the, high powered. Send it.

:rolleyes:Could be the Gov't, but….
- I don't think the Gov't would use tracers, 'cuz if they wanted to make a "statement"... well, they got tanks and troops for that.
- May be just some civilian simply using whatever ammo he could get his hyper-restricted hands on -or- wanting to have Gov't blamed to cause escalation -or- some run-of-the-mill sicko that wants to show a bit more "panache" (it IS Paris after all).
- rioting was in a very upscale (Gucci gym bag/Versace toothpicks/a-Monet-hanging-in-the-maid's-room) part of town...probably just some Saudi Prince's security staff keeping the Riff-Raff away.

Heck...It could be any damnthing....It's France....they're nuttier than écureuil merde*!

Ever been there?

Many parts of it are gorgeous. I really like Saint-Tropez.

Are the people snobbish?

Sure, some, not all.

I encountered some great French people.

They're a bunch of pansies...no, some of the best soldiers are French. Plus, ever heard of the French Foreign Legion? Even today, they're a rough, competent bunch of soldiers.

Were they cowardly in WW11. Sure, some, not all.

Why do I say good things about them?

I really appreciate their orneriness...

What do I know about soldiers?

I was one and part of the pointy end of the spear for a number of years.

LDSK... how tedius and unnecessary!!! A name the media made up because of complaints from people that are sensitive or don't understand plain English:

snipe
/snīp/
noun
noun: snipe; plural noun: snipe; plural noun: snipes; noun: common snipe; plural noun: common snipes
  1. 1.
a wading bird of marshes and wet meadows, with brown camouflaged plumage, a long straight bill, and typically a drumming display flight.
verb
verb: snipe; 3rd person present: snipes; past tense: sniped; past participle: sniped; gerund or present participle: sniping
  1. 1.
shoot at someone from a hiding place, especially accurately and at long range.
"the soldiers in the trench sniped at us"
  2. 2.
make a sly or petty verbal attack.
"the state governor constantly sniped at the president"
Come on guys, like other things there is more than one definition of "sniper". Not everyone has a military perspective, and maybe those that do could be just a little more outwards-thinking? IMO If the Second Amendment means what it says in plain English, then sniper (edit: vs Sniper) does too!

BTW, my hunting rifle will become a sniper rifle when and if SHTF. Just sayin.

Pistol caliber cartridges; and black powder types (this include the likes of .30-40 and similar old cartridges that came before smokeless) and rimfires
You have me at black powder but do you even need a bgc for those? But the reason they designed pistol carbines was to get more power. Apologies accepted.

You're thinking muzzleloaders which arent considered "firearms" according to the ATF.

I'm not sure of cap and ball cartridges but i would think they fell under the same category as muzzleloaders

A .22LR with subs or CCI standard velocity out of a suppressed bolt rifle would be more effective.

The masses would have no clue they are being targeted until they start coughing up blood and people dropping randomly. That would be setting fear in the masses. No report, no sound and no clue where it's coming from.

The Israelis played with 10 22s for awhile as a "not quite as lethal" form of violent protestor control. The problem was too many were dieing.

So I seen this thread in the wee hours of this morning, watched the short clip attached to the original post...

As I was readying for work this morning it occurred to me, how does a socialist society actually fight against its "social government"...

With rocks, sticks and Molotov cocktails.... And how does that "socialistic government" respond:
Flash bangs
Pepper spray
Rubber bullets
Tear gas
Water cannons

And snipers...

Pay very, very close attention Amerika... Continue down this path and in half a generation, this could be our streets...

I've actually asked this question to some people.. and I always find their responses interesting.
"Why do the Police need semiautomatic rifles?"

They almost always say "because of criminals"
I follow up with this... such fun to see them try to justify banning semiautomatics after this..
"Does a citizen have the same right to protect themselves from criminals that the Police does?"
Easiest to see where they stand. If they say yes, then they're the ones trying to do mental gymnastics to justify banning semiautomatics.. if they say no then I know not to discuss with them further, because a person who believes that only the police have the right to protect themselves from criminals, is a very dangerous person indeed.

Gonna use that in the future. Good observation to use in a discussion.

The leaders of the Yellow Vest protesters were going to sit down with President Macron and try to hammer out a compromise, but they received death threats from the take no prisoners militant side of the movement, so all bets are off for a peaceful resolution.

I was a sniper while on deployment a time or three while in the Army...that was a honorable calling...
I do not like it when a murderer is called by the same name as I was....If that makes me "sensitive "...then I think that I have good reason to be.

I saved lives while using my skills...the murderer is a criminal.
I do not need to be "more outward thinking"....to not want to have my job sullied by someone.
