I might keep the keys/fobs in a metal can for my car and Mrs. Teflon's, and continue to leave the key to my crusty ol' pickup in the ignition, just hoping...

Some of the newer cars have fobs that you don't push the button on, you just get close to the car and it unlocks it for you.
i repair chevys and cadillacs for a living. some of these new fobs are very involved just to get them programmed to the vehicle. the fact of the matter is, bad guys will find a way to steal if they want to steal.I sell new Chevys for a living..... tried the coffee can thing with a customer who was really concerned about the issue. It did not disable the RFID at all. We tried a bunch of metal containers to no avail. I suspect it was because the fob was touching the sides of the containers
