Hey guys...I have a modded Gamo Whisper .177 and with have decapitated starlings with it. I have another Gamo with the piston and to be honest I can barely tell the different. Less "twang" sound for sure and a sharper thud...I may upgrade my whisper with a piston just cause I get tired of changing springs every 2-3000 pellets (i shoot alot).
WFO, if you REALLY want to get that Big Cats accuracy to double, I can't stress enough how great the custom trigger from Charlie Da Tuna (google it) is. GAMO's are notorious for their long and heavy trigger pulls. This trigger makes it feel like a whole different rifle. I can get 1/2" groups at 35 yards...sometimes better.
