That porting does a lot. I shot a short barrel ported 500sw; it was a puppy.Well, finally shot a friends 8" ported .460 S&W.
Not as bad as I thought it would be but it needs better (and bigger) grips.
I'd compare it with a 6" .44 mag Super Blackhawk with full house loads.
What's the difference between a comp and a brake?I prefer my 8 3/8" 460 over either of my 500's any day. The 500 only has a comp, not a brake as it's an early model.
As far as I am concerned, they are the same. What's the difference between a comp and a brake?
I thought that was a great question so I tried to find out. This might help:What's the difference between a comp and a brake?
IMO the 460V (recently sold) was/is a pussycat compared to my 329PD, and not at all "vicious".Interesting. I've had an interested, on and off, with .460 S&W, if for no other reason the versatility of being able to to run .45 Scofield, .45 LC, .454 Casull, in addition to the aforementioned. However, I always assumed the recoil would be vicious. Full house .44 Magnum loads are manageable for me and I shoot them all the time, but a lot more than that can be unpleasant, and therefore not shot much. (I briefly had a pretty light .50Æ revolver; shooting that was like grabbing ahold of a lightning bolt. )
This is an 'upside' no doubt.if for no other reason the versatility of being able to to run .45 Scofield, .45 LC, .454 Casull,
With regards to the 329PD your sentence is too wordy for me. My version: I would not ever want to shoot it - never ever.I would not ever want to shoot it with wood grips - never ever.
A comp only minimizes muzzle rise (think magnaport/holes in the top of the barrel). A brake directs gasses in a direction as to "pull" the gun forward, counteracting the force of recoil. Similar, but definitely not the same. What's the difference between a comp and a brake?
700 grain bullets?I had one for a long time and I LOVED it, but then I got a bit crazy and traded it for a 500 S&W, just so I could shoot 700 grain bullets. I just loved how accurate my 460 was.
Oh yeah they are a blast, literally.700 grain bullets?
Many thats close to 4 1/2 .357 bullets!so I could shoot 700 grain bullets.
