I think your right. Just got it working on this page.(somewhat)

Will try to get out to Fry's and get a replacement.

It doesn't sound like it's an actual problem with the mouse, as it works correctly on other sites. Do you have another mouse you could test it with?

I suspect that your mouse is just fine. The loss of focus is more likely taking place due to certain ads displaying and your browser settings for security. Certain settings allow third party apps (ads) to take control of certain aspects of your experience, the focus for example. If you try the page again and allow focus to be taken away from your mouse, then hit enter on your keyboard, you should be directed to one of the ad homepages. This is then the offending ad that is stealing focus from your mouse.

playing with the wheel and it worked on this page. the ads started moving moved the mouse over to adds and then back to page and page started scrolling. no it was not locked down.
