So with the ammo/reloading component crunch I have been tinkering with and shooting several single shots lately. This one will be a handy little deer, coyote general purpose critter getter.
It started out life as a 14" CVA pistol in 6.5 Needmoor. My vision was slightly different. I ordered a stock and a dead air muzzle device. The dead air muzzle device pin and weld was straight forward and gives me a 16.25" barrel. The stock fitting was a bit harder as the angle of the threaded boss of the pistol action vs rifle is quite different. I milled out the stock to adapt and with some gorilla epoxy and a different jesus bolt, I think it is good to go. With 120-130 grain projectiles I should clock somewhere around 2500 fps, give or take. This should give almost a 400 yard range for deer sized critters which is longer than 98% of shots I take on game. Full up with leupy 3-9 and bipod it scales right at 7.5 lbs. This is light enough to be handy and heavy enough to not be a feather in the wind. I will report back on accuracy and velocity after a range session.
