They weren't enough of a threat to shoot, wasn't enough to draw.
Shouldn't have got out or just stayed away and not taunted.
Looked pretty legit. I'm not a fan of drawing and menacing, but he seemed to do a good job of keeping it together until he was sprayed at close quarters with many 'yutes' surrounding him, and then he draw and charged the firearm. There are a number of things I'd like to think I would have done differently but at least he didn't wave his gun around at random people. He flagged the direction, possibly the person, who assaulted him, and then when their intent to retreat was reasonably clear he immediately decided not to fire and went gun-down.

I wouldn't have been there to begin with, and I never ever carry with an empty chamber. Those are the most obvious things I would do differently.

Sad the police can't maintain order and let things get to this point .... again .... still.

People who get away with violence/crime are emboldened to do more, this is why the antifa pukes are still doing this. We are at the awkward phase where some forms of violence are "ok" if you are of the correct political persuasion. As soon as someone with an American flag pulls a gun to defend themselves, the cops are seemingly quick to respond to that, but all the vehicle damage by antifa pukes, gets a pass.

Agreed, these are indeed sad times, when one cannot fly the flag of the United States of America, cannot display their beliefs... oh, that's right, only one side gets to do that. Who the he!! Is Antifa to dictate where one can drive and what one can display? They need to be treated as the domestic terrorism organization they truly are... I agree the whole lot of them should have been rounded up with the first rock thrown, the first paint filled balloon, the first broken window...

Well, we are coming to a time folks when much blood will be shed in our streets as those of a conservative trait are pushed a little too hard. It's coming, the pot will indeed boil over...

We all have a point at which we will not take any more. Where that point is, is up to each individual. On Jan 6th we saw some who had a lower threshold than the majority. What will happen when the majority reach that point, I cannot say.

Oregon, over the weekend

  • Footage captured the demonstrators spraying paint across the windshield of the man's truck and smashing the tail lights in Salem on Sunday
  • The video showed him pulling out his gun and pointing it at the anti-fascist protesters after appearing to be maced. He could be heard shouting: 'Get away from me'
  • As police arrived, the man could be seen putting his gun into the back of his truck before putting his hands up and kneeling on the ground

Could you make a case, in court, that your life was in danger by being sprayed? How could you know at the moment if the spray would be lethal? See photo of squirt gun in the article.

In the PNW no , but in other places they would have been bought and paid for . The freedom to assemble doesn't give you the right to endanger the safety and right of the individual to move freely.

If it's against the law to do to LE, it should be the same to a civilian.

if pepper spraying an LEO gets you assault, it should be for everyone.

Welp here's the bad was hoping wouldn't have happened.

Yup im beginning to not have support for LEOS, that poor dudes truck gets smashed up he gets maced tried to defend himself and fatty mcporckchop pulls his gun on him, wow what a f ing hero, and nothing happens to the auntqueefa jackbooted thugs, not sure on how all this is going to end...

Has the arrested been charged?

I'm almost wondering if the cop made the arrest in order to de-escalate the situation...? How many times has a macing turned into a beat down, especially when it's one on many? I'm of the opinion that anyone being maced who was previously non-threatening has full legal right to be in fear of their life and to take whatever action necessary...That being said, I wonder if this cop saw what was playing out and made the call to stop a developing situation, de-escalate the mob aggression, and get maced guy to safety...?

Just a thought. Could be, and probably is, wrong as hell.

I feel for the guy and can understand what was probably going through his head at the time. Though, cool heads prevail. The gun should only come out if yours or some one else's life is in imminent danger. What was he going to do, try to reason with those idiots? Get their names and addresses and make them pay for the damage? Best thing to (besides not being there) would be to exit the A. O. as expeditiously as possible.

They controlled the person with the firearm and eventually he (and everyone else involved) went home. The instigators should be facing jail or prison, but that's not the call of the police, it's the fault of DA policy I believe.

He isn't charged. He was only detained, interviewed then released according to salemPD flash reports in another thread.
We'll see what the DA's review does. Wonder if SB554 uses this as an example on the voting floor.
