I took a safety course a long time ago (several years), and never got my CCW at the time. I still have the certificate. I'd like to try and get my CCW now. Can I use this or must I go again?

I took my course in 1991 and didn't apply until 2006. They excepted it without a problem.

I went in to Washington County with my P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards & Training) cert. from 16 years ago :wow:and they accepted that without question.

    Hope that helps.

I brought my DDForm214 (Miltary service papers) that showed I had pistol training listed on it in the special qualifications section and that was dated in 1988... no problemo!

    Isn't that an oxymoron?

    I kid I kid!!

I'm surprised that there is no expiration date or time line for these classes.

Ribs, I'm glad you spotted it. My late night humor is about as good as my grammar.

Sounds like you are good to go Dobanion. Once I got my permit it made me wish I hadn't waited so long

Heh... getting a CHL/CPL for a non-resident of Washington is even easier... no appointment required, no proof of pistol training required... just a valid driver's license, finger printing, the completed application and application fee, wait approx. 60 days (for non-residents) for the background check... and done. Not even any photos taken (you use it in tandem with your ODL)... I like Washington "more better" than Oregon. :D

I have a WA CCW permit that expired a few years ago. Can that be used to obtain an OR permit without the class certificate????

NOPE... WA State does not require ANY training certifications/proof to get a CPL, Oregon does and (mainly) will not accept your WA State CPL as proof of training because of that fact to get a OR State CHL.... sorry!!
