Look at all the stupid stuff entitled, indulged dipstick boomers liberals started in this world
Do you remember...
The "Summer of Love" Turn on, tune in, drop out? The explosion of drug abuse? Boomers Liberals
Free love and the sexual revolution which of course led to rampant VD, spikes in illegitimacy and abortions? Boomers Liberals
The protests against the Viet Nam war and the destructive riots on campuses? Boomers Liberals
Remember the idiots spitting on GI's as they returned from Viet Nam? Boomers Liberals
Running off to Canada to dodge the draft? Boomers Liberals
I can go on but you get the picture

But so much of what is wrong with American society these days can be blamed directly on ...Boomers Liberals
FIFY. If we're gonna play the blame game, let's do it right.
Putin's trying to rebuild the USSR.
That's why his stooge in Belarus was bubbleguming with the Poles, its why he's posturing around Baltic states.
Putin is not interested in rebuilding the USSR. He wants to return those areas which are majority populated by ethnic Russians to Russian rule. The conflict with the Ukraine is over the Donbass region, which is majority Russian. He did not take all of Georgia, which he easily could have, only the majority Russian areas. Crimea was historically Russian, not Ukrainian. During the era of the USSR, a lot of Russians migrated to non-Russian areas. Traditional boundaries were blurred during this period, and when the USSR split up, a lot of ethnic Russians were left behind. This is the root of the conflict. It has nothing to do with communism or restoring the USSR.

Putin is grabbing all he can in the reset.
Putin doesn't care about the great reset. He is not a globalist. He is most certainly a Russian nationalist. The old cold war stereotypes just don't fit in the present day..

Oh heck I don't know but I imagine that Putin will play to win and I doubt he plays our game of war. After watching us train in the middle east for decades I assume the ruskies have a strategy.
Don't know, but their military isn't even a shadow of what it once was, hell, I would bet N. Korea or Iran could stomp them hard!

A shooting war on the ground between NATO and Russia would be short, Bloody, and a loosing proposition for Russia, pretty much the same thing with an Air War, NATO would crush them, a battle at sea wouldn't even be a thing, Russia has no serious warships, and outside its missile boats which are mostly offensive, so it's a non starter!
Assuming President* Diaperslop Eating Chomo ALLOWS US forces to get involved...

Fine, liberal boomers. The point is it was the boomer generation that started the downward slide to liberal socialism. And that was caused as always by the best of intentions. In this case those intentions of greatest generation parents who suffered privation in the depression and WWII, who didn't want their kids to be wanting for anything.
And I'd say Putin's desire for at least a corridor to Kronstadt is going to involve Poland and/or Baltic states

I don't care what Putin wants to do. Seems like Ukraine is kinda mostly Russian anyway. Let them have their tar-tar sauce. Manipulate them into nuking China for us. Everyone wins.

Maybe if they wanna be Russia they should GO HOME... this is the same BS as Hitler shoveled as "wherever there are ethnic Germans is Grossdeutschland whether they wish to be part of Das Reich or not."

Try it on Brighton Beach, NY, Vlad...

Maybe they don't want to be Russia as much as Putin wants them to be Russia.

Very similar.

Putin plays on a few themes, one of which is the Motherland must be protected and hostiles on the border is a fail at that protection. That's the basis of his 'red line' rhetoric. Doesn't matter that times and tech have changed, that message resonates and will for... generations if not forever.

Anyway, I'll say it: there will be blood. In Ukraine. In the next few weeks. A combo of wanting to blood some new org/tech in the Russian military, weak leadership in the US/Europe, having the advantage economically, insignificant opposition at home... basically little/no downside to a little adventurism. So yeah, he'll do it.

If I'm wrong I'll be disappointed if y'all don't make fun of me!

Pretty much the same theme both Hitler & Stalin played early on during WWII.

I believe that.
It's the ethnic Russian districts that he wants to bring back to Mother Russia.
If he went too deep into Ukraine, he would have an endless guerilla war on his hands.

As stated above, he has already shown this pattern.

I don't know...the man knows how to secure a border, though.

And then there's the flaky Millennial new PM in Finland who probably puts them out of the fight unless they replace her quick...
As a bonus if Ukraine teams up with the Finns they can have dance parties in between engagements with Russian troops:

And Hitler started with Austria under the same excuse. Then the Sudentenland, then . . . you know the rest of the story.

Are you going to blame the Boomers for her, too?
Allow me to be clear, I never said the entire generation was the problem, just that while prior generations kept their ratios of "garbage" to "not" relatively in check, there was an uptick of Me First self-absorbed narcissism there. Still not a majority, but that noxious minority did grow and unfortunately placed itself in positions to spread the blight into an ever-growing proportion of the generations that follow, particularly through their infestation of the education sector.

Think of it like a nuclear reaction... with moderators in place you have neutrons being absorbed so that when uranium atoms get smashed by them it's at a slow steady pace. With those moderators disabled or removed you get a runaway into meltdown or kB!--and frankly, I'd say that the Boomers who DID come out right and DIDN'T spit on their siblings coming home from Nam, Grenada etc have been an important part of keeping our cultural Three Mile Island as slow of a pace as it's been buying time for the ever-dwindling number in following generations with our heads screwed on straight to try to fix the problem. (A task which I'm ever less optimistic about the possibility of achieving.)

Or would you prefer to continue misconstruing things as if you somehow think I accused a Boomer of going back in time and sequentially murdering Julius Caesar, nailing Jesus to the cross and then firing the killshots in both Sarajevo '14 and Dallas '63? Don't bother answering that, I'm done with this thread.
