Unfortunately this is no big loss.
Maybe someone will buy them up and make a proper 870.
S&W purchased themselves back after bankruptcy. And after Mikoru aquired Winchester, they made a handsome and quality lever and bolt gun. And what Ruger did to Marlin (after Remington butchered the 336 lever rifle.)
Remington has produced garbage for a decade or two. Maybe someone will buy them out, re-tool, and produce a good firearm.

Maybe Remington won't be associated with pure trash in the future, but it'll take a long time to shake that reputation. Until then, I'll continue shooting skeet with my beautiful 1965 Wingmaster.

No, it's because they relied on their name and history only, and have been producing garbage for a couple of decades. Remington 870, their 1911 and the R-380 come to mind.
Much like Colt, who were famous for over 100 years and got lazy. Served themselves, and a bit to their shareholders, and left their customers in the bubblegumer.
