Gas:
I've built a bench from the link you posted and can offer some suggestions.
-Buy a full sheet of 7/16 OSB and use 2 thicknesses for the top.
Most Lowes/HomeDepot will cut the OSB for free.
-Consider making it taller to load standing or with your butt on a tall stool.
-The 2x4 under the front edge should be flat, not on edge, for the bolts holding your press to the bench top.(see SAR1846's link design).
-Add a 2x4, lying flat, front to back under the top, on the press position centerline.
-20" deep (wide) is enough unless you plan to build shelves on the back.(see SAR1846's link design).
-A shelf on the wall is a better place for a powder scale than a shelf attached to the bench.
Good luck,
Tilos

I was going to use 4x4 posts for the legs and make it around 42" tall also. Thanks for the other link. I will check it out right now.

On my old bench, the top was constructed of 3/4 ply, and then I added an additional 3/4" scrap piece -- ~2'x2' to raise up the press, and have room for a couple trays worth of brass & ball.
