Same question, but plot twist, with a short barrel of 2¾"? What say you?

P.S. @MikeInOr, very important safety tip. I've personally seen a Webley Mark Ⅳ have the stirrup latch bust due to standard .45 ACP ball.

Buffalo Bore's .45 Auto Rim, Standard Pressure looks interesting for the snub application. It is a 225-gr., hard cast, wadcutter launched at ~950fps. (Looks like a little slower from a snub.)

The Buffalo Bore .45 Auto Rim +P, 225-gr Hard Cast Wadcutter at 1,125 fps appears neato as sort of a modern "manstopper" load. Listed as safe in all modern .45 revolvers.

That .45 Auto Rim +P is a 225 gr at 1,125 for 632 ft lbs ME. And that's OK for a 625?

But the .45 Super 255 gr at 1,075 is 654 ft lbs ME.

Or the .45 Super 230 gr at 1,100fps is 618 ft lbs ME.

….and THOSE SUPERS are foolishly "trying to make a 625 into some kinda Magnum"?

Hmm….I'll be derned…,the wisdom of the Internet is boundless.

I'd go with 230 gr Federal HST, they're "law enforcement" marked and have a decent track record. Carry them in my .45's.

Another choice would be 230 gr Remington Golden Sabre's, if ya can find them.

One of my carry guns is a Blackhawk convertible 45. I carry run of the mill 230g 45 acp hollow points for two legged critters and 325g bear load 45 Colts for four legged critters. Those 325g loads pack a punch. You really do need the right gun to stand up to the abuse those hand out.

I've shot a good amount of Federal HST and +P HST out of my 625. The big heavy frame soaks up the recoil and both are smooth shooting.

If you search around you can find deals on HST especially if you're open to police trade in ammo. Way cheaper than buying it by the 20 round fancy plastic box.

For example this HST at 50CPR:

I've heard of police trade in firearms, but never the ammo.

On a bit of a lark, I picked these up whilst up in the city today:

Shot up a little bit and was accurate enough. So might work for carry for now.

(Unrelated, I was plumb out of .45 ACP, but have a 500-round count of 230-gr ball coming from SG next week. :s0155:)
