I spent a long time close to 30 years buying precious metals and they are a poor investment , as a rule they are a decent enough hedge to protect your wealth but they will not grow your wealth by any means. Do the research and you will find that if averaged out for inflation gold is not worth substantially more than it was 30 years ago.
Silver (thanks to the Hunts ) for a brief amount of time had a substantially better chance of making you money assuming you did not HODL it when it hit $40 an ounce back in the 80's .
Right now in spite of what the government is willing to acknowledge we have pretty high inflation , much more so than the official rate of inflation 2.5% . Those who have been paying attention have noted that prices have been rising quickly for the last several years.
My advice assuming you can afford to take it is to listen to Milton Friedman.. In times of high inflation , the only way to combat it is with high living. Buy durable and consumables which will only go up in price which you can use or sell later . right now primers and ammo fall into those categories. Don't expect either to ever be as cheap as they were before this COVID nonsense and the summer of protests .
