If you have access to a sandblaster you can do it yourself.

Brownells sells the mix.

How much protection does Parkerizing give compared with blueing?

I think it's a little more, i can't really remember though - the military used it instead of bluing if that tells you anything?

I parkerized a rifle about 25 years ago and it's held up well. Just a small chip right at the end of the barrel that I assume was caused by the heat and pressure from the gasses and bullet exiting the barrel.

Parkerizing is a little more corrosion resistant because it makes the surface hold and retain oil better them then a blued surface.
