There seems to be a lot of exemptions to Destructive Device NFA rules.
This one in particular seems pretty vague.

If I was to build a rifle with bore over a 1/2 inch but intended to only use it for target practice, is that legal?
How do modern 54 and 58 cal muzzleloaders escape the ban?
If I make a golf ball style launcher, for non lethal self defense with no rifling, would that be illegal since it is over a 1/2 inch bore and intended to be used as a weapon?
