I just picked one up for a price I couldn't refuse. I haven't shot it yet, but I've already been looking to trick it out. Have you made any modifications to yours or had any problems?
I would replace the screws. I think I added a buffer to it. (Had mine since they came out pre lawsuit and were still called GSG-5s). They sell an upgrade kit for it.
It runs great for me and a fun 22.
Mods are pretty cosmetic. I swapped out the stock for a collapsible one and a light fore end.
I have an interesting plan if it will work out. Don't want to use a stamp on it to SBR, (but I will on a can) so I want to shorten the barrel, thread it and permanently attach the shroud. Then I can attach a real silencer inside the shroud. Still be 16" total length with an 8" barrel and look stock from a distance. The can will be 1x8" so it should be very quiet.
Challenge is the barrel is pencil thin and shroud I believe is aluminum, so not easy to pin and weld for attachment plan.

I have the PTR MP5 and MP5K clones. Bother are SBR'd and both and amongst my favorite guns. I have owned a HK MP5 SBR previously and to be honest I dont see any difference between the PTR and the HK guns other than the rail. One thing you arent going to do with the recent HK imports is put s sear pack in it. They have a block and a semi only carrier.

I still think the SHF telescopic brace is #1.

The gear head works side folder is now my #2 and I decided to use it on my POF 5/MP5. Built like a tank and heavy but worth it IMO. Had to make it fit but not a big deal. The side folder is also cheaper than the SHF.

Gonna use the SHF with a tailhook MOD 1C on the 5PK.

Agreed. The Safety Harbor KES is a work of art. That side folder looks pretty cool as well though.

Picked up my 5PK yesterday. My BGC passed in a few minutes..... my CHL helped move me ahead of the line....Praise Jesus lol. I love the compact and light weight. Waiting on my MOD 1C and I will install the SHF brace.

My HK collection so far. The clone is an Omega from Atlantic Firearms. Only put a few hundred rounds through it but no issues. Complimentary P30L because John Wick... :)

Sold the MP5 and paid off my car. Kept the SMG PK. Decided to get the magpul lower and ambi safety. The new safety is much easier to use. I have a two pin lower and a shelf, so the magpul lower fit perfectly. Now I have a 1 pin lower and I can switch back to the two pin metal lower whenever. Now I can keep spare batteries in the grip, and the new pistol grip angle is much nicer.

Coharie has been defunct for several years now and was one of the many Todd Bailey business re-brands. Other business names he ran under were Bobcat and Special Weapons.

The firearms he produced had a reputation of either working really well or being a never ending problem child. It was apparently a roll of the dice when you purchased one of his firearms. It's good to hear that yours runs well.

Omega is actually produced by Todd's brother Wade Bailey and are exclusive to Atlantic Firearms. Having them tied to Atlantic is the only reason that I am considering Omega.

Yep, you are correct when you say it is a hit or miss with the Coharie. And boy that fella IS lucky his runs well because mine sure didn't! I dropped another 2k into the firearm to get it to work right. It had wrong ejector in the trigger pack, wrong cocking tube etc. Personally I like the POF when they are available but I can say my favorite is the SP5 . Now the Coharie is a throw away really.

Well I must have hit the jackpot then! I have 2 Coharie Arms MP5 clones. One is an actual MP5 with a pin and welded extension. The other is a a Caharie Arms HK34. A 9mm carbine but an exrended cocking tube and forearm from a 93. The front sights are moved out towards the end of the barrel. It does away with the "broomstick" barrel that 94's have. Both guns I have run like Swiss clocks. I have never had one single problem with either one.
