What a great movie! That's was the third movie that popped in my head. Burl Ives though, can't picture him as anything but the guy in Rudolph movie.
IIRC, Burl won an Oscar for Rufus. I think the score was nominated as well.
Chuck Connors should have gotten a nomination as well, IMO.

Is Jeremiah Johnson a Western? Personally, the movie moves me in ways because I recognize the scenery in so many places. Growing up in the area we, Dad and I, rode Honda 90s all over the place, back when you could. I've seen some of the same views in person as I see in the movie. And after I built my XL 250 a buddy and I were up and around a lot of the areas where the movie was filmed.
