I think his test is a little over the top but an AR with a closed dust cover wins. What if you've loaded a round in your AR and then drop it in the middle of a monster dirt storm? After you get the dirt out of your eyes will the AR with the open dust cover still work?

I think that mini has other issues, I mistreated my old mini and never lubed or cleaned it. It cycled fine. I'm sure it would fail with a scoop of dirt in the action but cleaned with no lube? It should have functioned.

I pretty much try to keep my guns out of serious dirt. Mini with action closed or
AR with dust cover down isnt going to normally get much dirt in it. Don't drop your rifle and everything will be fine
