Oregon Measure 114 litigation

Unless the Oregon supremes put a stay on M114, looks like the mag ban will take effect on or about April 16th. If you're going to be making any firearms purchases, probably want to get it done now if you want the mags that come with them.

As far as the "will not comply" crowd, you'll need to convince the retailers and FFL's that it's OK to sell to you. Good luck with that!

Just also a heads up today was my first ever gun purchase that was NOT an instant approval. That was using my CHL. I was 600 something in the queue. I somewhat expected it but maybe someone else will be surprised to encounter something similar. Didn't get to leave with it.

IF the case isn't appealed, or it doesn't get an injunction, on April 16 standard capacity magazines are banned, but the permit to purchase doesn't go into effect until July 1 2026 if HB3075 is passed as it is, and non serialized firearms are already banned?

Well immergut biotch did stay the permit portion in the federal track. So I think the permit portion would be blocked until that stay is released. As far as I know anyway.

HB3075 repeals and changes some language and some of the dates in m114. It's currently scheduled for a session in the house committee 4/2, so we still don't know if/when it gets signed in. If it isn't addressed before m114's 35 days is up (in the event there's no pushback), I think we have to live with m114 as it stands until other actions are made. We'd really need to get clarification from a legal counsel or info straight from Salem. Either way, I'm done with gun buying in Oregon for the foreseeable future.

Hmmm, can't think of any guns I can't live without. I'm just glad I discovered the grand power rotating barrel pistols kind of at the last minute. Wish I had tried them years ago. There are a few guns I would really be kicking myself if I hadn't got them. Mp5 clones, ptr .308 pistols, and grand power pistols in particular. Lynx 12 shotgun goes in that category also I guess.

For about the 20th time, the permit portion cannot be applied before a permit system is in place. Full stop. M114 can become law without certain portions going into effect.

While I agree with this, I'm not sure many ffl dealers will still be willing to accommodate under those guidelines.

Kombucha, non-alcoholic brewed beverages, tinctures, vanilla extract

I think people forget that "drinking" is not the only source of alcohol in day to day life

It's going to be rough for sure. Unfortunately, there will be some people that try to take it out on the business owners when they purchase a firearm without the magazines, that they paid for, included in the box. It won't be pretty. All the shops should be posting signs right now with Jason Kropf's and Floyd Prozonski's phone numbers and addresses.

Let's also remember that there will be plenty of frustration for everyone and we need to be careful about attacking our own .

I fear too many people aren't even voting or don't care because they think only that it doesn't affect themselves without thinking of how this affects future generations of Oregonians.

I've told a couple of new shooters about the last day to purchase possibly being the last day to purchase. So far those folks and the people that have just been unaware/uninformed, have ordered a few extra mags already.

I also ordered a few extra, just because I still could, as well.

I'm good to go! I've been busy with family & work and haven't been able to keep up on this entire thread, so was just making sure I hadn't missed anything new.

Has the state updated their plans for running background checks? Last I talked to my FFL there was no plan and there was no guidance and no one knows what to do when that part of the law supposedly goes into effect. As far as my FFL is aware there will be no legal BGC process on the 14th. The old system may still be functional(?) but according to the law that will be in effect it will not satisfy all legal requirements (i.e. all the permits, validation and whatnot). They were not planning on running any sales until they received official guidance on how to proceed with the BGC process.

I believe this is supposed to change with SB3075, but as that law has not passed yet, let alone been implemented we are still under the permitting process laid out in 114, which is wholly nonfunctional.
