There are several towns the size of Monmouth/Independence up in Alaska. Anchorage(Metro Area) has a population of 400K, and Juneau(the capital) is about the size of McMinnville.Good thing I don't drink or do illegal drugsI do wonder how Alaska is for autistic children...I get the feeling it isnt the best, being one of the most isolated American places to live in?
TBT, Alaska is an amazing place; God's country.
Unless one is way up in the interior (like Fairbanks), the winter weather isn't too harsh. Not much different than the Mountain States of the 'Lower 48'.
Near the coast, when it's raining and 36F here in the valley, it's 26F and snowing there.
The real issue with Alaska is how long it's dark there. 5 or 6 hours of daylight during peak winter. It can be really depressing. A large portion of the population self-medicates during the winter. So, being clean and sober, one might need another way to dull the doldrums.
On the flip-side, the opposite is true in the summer.. Hence the term "Land of the Midnight Sun".
If a person can get the F' out of Alaska during the peak winter months, Spring through Fall are excellent.
Now back to your regular M114 programming after the way off-topic post...
Downtown Juneau, AK(The bulk of people live in the Mendenhall Valley)
