I heard that show too. I like that the Lane County deputy called to say he fully supported every legal gun owner, especially those with CHL. He said it made his job easier and safer. Also re-iterated that disarming citizens only disarms the law abiding ones, not the criminals.
He said that no officer he knew would stand by an order like the one post Katrina, to take guns from the public.

Who is "Marshall" and what law does he have? Or are we getting a US Marshall in town?

I was listening to that show too and was vary happy to know that at least some of our local law enforcement would not support such an act. But what is troubling, to me at least, is that like, Katrina police from other states may be sent in to help. States like California, Illinois, and New York, who are not as likely to feel that we should enjoy as much freedom as we do here in the northwest.

Like I said in the first post. I never heard anything about it from the media while it was happening. And I'm not sure why they were talking about it on the show now.

Yeah. The NRA reported on this when it was happening and for a long time after. Law enforcement has a duty to enforce existing laws and uphold the constitution. They have no right to take my guns, and I have the duty to defend them. Let's just hope that it never comes to that.

I sent Bill O'Rielly the following message via e-mail and my message was kicked back twice but appeared to go through the third time.
Here is my message:
Hi Bill:
I am a big fan and have been for many years. Keep up the good work.
I do have a bone to pick with you about your recent comments about emergency powers allowing local or state governments to confiscate personal owed firearms.
I was present during the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles and saw what happened on the mean streets of that city. The city authorities ordered the police out of the riot zone and they were not allowed to enter that zone to help those in need. In fact during their retreat the line officers told citizens to arm themselves because they were on their own.
The city closed down all the gun shops and hardware stores that sold ammo so people that did not already own firearms and ammo were prey to the criminals roaming the streets. If you were lucky enough to have weapons and ammo you were able to convince the criminals to move on to the next street.
That's the way it works when you have chaos and the rules of society break down. Honest citizens are not the threat, its that 2% or so that are criminals and we citizens that are in a riot zone or hurricane area need to be able to defend ourselves and our loved ones.
What happened in New Orleans is a perfect example of what not to do. Police went around and broke into homes and took firearms by force, if necessary, from citizens. Those were the very firearms citizens needed to protect themselves from the gangs that roamed the city, stealing, raping and killing Innocent citizens. The police were not there to protect anybody, not available to be called, and the criminals never give up their stolen weapons to the police. So the effect was to make turn the honest law-abiding folks into prey (sheep) unable to defend themselves from the criminal element.
In a national, state or local emergency you can trust the citizens of our great country to protect themselves if you allow them to keep the tools that the second amendment guarantees. I for one don't wish to see America turned into an neutered UK.

This is similar to the town on the east coast (was it in North Carolina?) a few weeks back during the bad snow that outlawed anyone having a gun in their car during their declared "state of emergency".
Seems like some authority figures are ok with you owning a gun, as long as it's not during a time where you might actually need to use it to defend yourself.

Well ladies get ready because just as soon as some wacko starts more bull crap they are going to come after the guns. People say, it can't happen here or it won't happen to me but guess what, the rest of the syphalized world has been disarmed, we are next! I wrote that and had some one call me a fearmonger and a paranoid but you know what I'd rather be paranoid and alive then dead or in some f'ed up detainees camp labeled as a domestic terrorist! And if voicing my opinion here makes me a fearmonger than so be it. If their plans are for a one world economy, a one world monetary system and turn this country into a socialist state like france, canada, australia or england than they have to disarm us. Unite or die.
