MantisX & red dot

I bought the MantisX laser training Academy a couple of weeks ago from Amazon. It's great for dry fire training and it allows me to practice any time at home. Although of course, nothing beats going to the range.

A couple of days ago I got a Holosun HS507K red dot mounted to my Glock 26 (also from Amazon $295.99). The McClusky Arms co. In Eugene mounted it for $265 (including co-witness sights)

The results are amazing. I am able to shoot with both eyes open and consistently hit in the 9 / 10 ring. Something I was never able to do with open sites. Now all it takes is practice at finding the red dot. I am using method number one in this YouTube video to find the red dot. Very helpful.

Just got off the phone with MantisX.
You must manually cycle the slide to reset the striker each time. Specifically using a Glock.
However, they are working on a reset-trigger of their own, prolly out next year.
They suggested using the Reset Mag for repeated trigger pulls.

I have a Mantis system too, it is a few steps above the old dry-fire practice. For best results run something with a double action trigger. I like my DA/SA guns, and the only thing I do not get out of the Mantis system is that second, crisp trigger pull.

Mantis has a lot of accessories, I am looking at the AR pattern reset bolt for the next bit of kit. They are also working on reset triggers for various striker pistols. Worth the money IMO, as you will easily save that on ammo, and that is assuming you have easy access to a range. I have thousands of shots on my system. Converting that to ammo means well over $1000 in savings on practice. Is it as good a live fire? Of course not, but it is still great practice. Plus you can run competition with buddies.

As a pro tip; the Mantis system works with any red laser out there, which means you can get cheapo chinesium ones from anywhere for half the cost, and the only drawback is having to make sure you have a good zero every time you set up the system. But the Mantis modules are not that expensive, and I find the reliable zero to be worth the premium. They have come down a lot in price from when I first got it too, from ~$80 ish to under $40 now. Plus they meter out discounts within the app. I have multiple $10 discounts available on my account now (though you cannot stack them unfortunately).

There are other laser training systems out there, and while I have not actually run any of them the advertised feature set makes me think Mantis is the best option (that is what got me to buy it in the first place). The only real question is how well they will keep up with the app support, as that is the only real part that you cannot replace. My set came with the lifetime pro version of the app, but if it does not run on whatever future phone I have that will be a moot point. But I guess this is an issue for any system out there, you are betting on them staying in business and being healthy enough to keep the app updated.

I "paired" my Mantis X with a Dri-Fire magazine in my Glock 19 (X). Magazine resets the trigger.

Your Mantis system does not use a laser bullet right? It uses an attachment to the G19 rail that measures movement.

Kel-Tec 380acp, and a small 9mm. Not certain the p3at(p380) is multi strike capable, but the p11 is. Double action only, just keep pulling the trigger to keep dropping the hammer...

I might have to look at that. I've got an older Mantis SIRT I used with LaserLyte targets (now discontinued) but they're all in storage right now.
