It is a pain in the arse to get there and the marijuana problem that plague the west coast is "locked in" when you're on the islands. I enjoy going to Mexico. They have the same Socialist attitudes as Hawaii, but it is far less expensive to visit. I can spend less than $250.00 on a round-trip ticket from Union Station in Portland, to the Santa Fe Station in San Diego from there, it is a 45-minute trolley ride to San Ysidro. I can walk across the border and a mile to a $45.00 per night hotel on Avenida Revolucion (Revolution Avenue). I am able to spend $7.00 per meal ($21.00 per day, folks). and safely enjoy 4 days in Tijuana + whatever I spend on entertainment/souvenirs. ($514 + entertainment/souvenirs) $400 covers that and for $914 for a 6-day vacation is a great bargain.
When I want to take an island vacation, I crack open a $4 can a Spam.

No. Even the police can't have any magazines over 10 rounds. I got this info from a retired police officer friend of mine who moved there recently.

If your point is that "even the police" means off duty or retired police for their personal weapons then no, they should not have rights over what normal citizens have.

I would agree with you there, I'd assumed he was talking about active LEOs. Can we get a confirmation on that?

Not sure on that but police have to apply for the same firearm permit and mental health records review as a civilian to have their active duty firearm. If they cant get the mental health clearance they get fired. So I would not be surprised if they are limited to the same restrictions as the civilians.

" It has changed by leaps and bounds for over the past ten years. "

Hey Capt O, how long is that train ride? I recall slow through times in Oakland. I bet it is a scenic ride and good food aboard though.

1. Whoever made the thread headline is 100% wrong. The cops did NOT take the dudes guns. "The weapons were legally registered to the man, and having them in his room was also legal."
2. They did not arrest the dude.
3. They investigated the dude more because he had been on line bragging about being a federal agent, which he is not. "The FBI notified Honolulu police Thursday about a guest in room 803 at the Equus Hotel, saying he was claiming to be a federal agent in disturbing posts on social media.

The 38-year old claimed his mission was to hunt terrorist cells. "

Yes, guns must be registered in Hawaii, and none of mine have been confiscated. Hawaii is not a real firearm friendly state, but this thread is still incorrect and misleading.

"Sources say that police did find psychiatric medication in the room, allowing them to seize the cache until a mental health evaluation can be completed. He was taken to a hospital for that."

Obviously, I dont trust the media to tell the truth but this assumes they were confiscated until he gets a mental health clearance. If he has Kaiser that means never.
