Possibly, but I would have thought that they would have just melted them down for the quality steel in them, or turned them over to the US Army. Hard to know. Whoever did it, or directed it done, is quite possibly dead now.

The US army took dozers dug pits and threw every broken US arm and all the captured jap arms into the pits then buried them, My old neighbor did that as a job.

I'd look real close at that school's curriculum.. prolly was drilling 'em in weapons use and tactics.

They should look those swords over. a very famous one went missing after it was turned in after he war.

My long dead adopted Dad served in the USN at the end of and shortly after the WW2 Pacific War. He told stories while waiting for ocean transport back to the USA and early discharge, (he had a common rate?) they were put to work loading up barges of ordnance and heavy supplies, towing them out to sea, then capsizing the barges. Back and forth. 1000 fathoms down. Glug glug. Such is war.

I imagine there are many many WW2 weapons caches all over the West and South West Pacific.
