Is it not unreasonable to think your life is in danger if some road rager stops you and gets out with a gun?
Not at ALL however I don't believe I would have chosen to 'shoot through the windshield' unless I believed the person was in fact appearing like HE was going to shoot at at me, with gun raised and appearing as IF he was going to shoot.

This was a unique and tough situation and it appears the guy in the pickup handled it well.

I will also state this, the minute I spotted the gun, my passenger would have been getting shoved down out of line of fire through windshield in case that would have played out!

So the road rager guy didnt have the ability to shoot thru the windshield too?

Im not certain I agree cops have to wait till someone brandishing a gun is raising or moving it...
Roll the dice then. It will be on you to articulate it all in front of a jury. Personally I'm not shooting someone at that distance simply due to the fact they have a gun in hand. That may rapidly change if they start advancing towards me. Especially if there are verbal threats along with the movement and tools needed to cause harm.

I would be leaving the scene rapidly though.

I think the guy in the truck got very lucky.
The
bad guy could have instantly started shooting at any moment and the drive was at a huge disadvantage being confined to his drivers seat.

Thats exactly what I saw happening in the video though...
Would you say the drivers life was in danger, at some point in the video?

Kinda everything 'pink shirt' was doing wouldn't ya say? Along with his arms inside the vehicle....
The minute the pistol went horizontal I would have shot.

I would have also had my window rolled up, cops on speaker phone, and my pistol pressed up against the door pointed toward the suspect.

Wonder if the truck driver had done something to provoke a reaction ?
Another good question as we don't know what took place the moments up to the stop! Who was the real instigator? Either way, the guy who got out with the gun, became the person who was wrong!

It would come down to the area you are in, the officer/s on the scene, witnesses and what they say and if the prosecutor thinks it's
slam dunk enough to pursue the case.

You got to do you and live with it.

Consequences include being ded, losing your lively hood depending on how well off you are and if you can afford tens of thousands of dollars (sometimes upwards of 100k) for a good lawyer to keep you out of jail, loss of your guns permanently etc.

Unless I'm boxed in from and back, bumper to bumper, and unable to drive into the grass or whatever else is available without driving over a pedestrian - I'm bailing on the situation and calling 911 in the hopes I don't have to shoot someone.

That's a pretty easy way to make sure you unalive yourself pretty quickly if somebody isn't willing to put up with your BS. If I would have been unable to backup my car I likely would have smoked the dude.
