Came across this video that recently happened in Florida I believe. There is a real brief moment where the perps handgun comes up, and my reaction might have been very different from the drivers! You'll notice the driver of the pickup had his firearm between his legs. How about you? Thoughts, perspectives?

Saw this previously but Yea, the idiot in the pink shirt is nothing but a self righteous POS (probably a 'new gun owner') who doesn't know chit from shinola, probably thinks his 'money makes him right' and is DAMN lucky he didn't get his azz blown away.

I hate people like this with a PASSION - and know of a few. If they were to 'disappear' tomorrow I wouldn't think twice about it - or shed a tear....

Reactions differ from person to person. And one has to deal with the consequences of whatever that reaction is.

But law doesn't change (differs by locality though). In terms of legality, imo the guy walking approached and was aggressive. The moment he raised his gun he could have been shot justifiably imo as a reasonable person would have thought their life was in danger. The guy in vehicle did not appear aggressive.

Audio is missing as well as prior interaction so I'm assuming the guy in vehicle did not "prime the pump" which would hurt/remove his ability to claim self defense.

A big lesson here is video is your friend imo. 2 cents.

Ya think?

But this is the problem with a lot of gun owners - especially those who are 'new' and think their 'position' in life, where they live etc. gives them more 'rights' than others.

Useless POSs is all they are.

I know a guy who did something similar - except HE was the guy in the vehicle and pulled his gun on a non-armed driver of another vehicle. He didn't lose his gun ownership right but LOST His CCP.

The audio's missing but in the original video he says "Hello neighbor, welcome to the community. Weather sure has been crazy lately! There's a barbecue on Sunday if you'd like to join, and my hot daughter will be there. Enjoy your day!"

Without any other context, would it be reasonable to say the drivers life was in danger?

Seems like he got lucky to be alive...

With seeing a gun in hand, do we have to wait till its raised?
Well, tough call depending on the STATE this took place in however I believe given the situation most would have been on 'good grounds' to shoot when he raised his gun.

I am NOT on pink shirts side AT ALL but to ME his raising of his gun was not 'defensive' or 'aggressive' and was just a part of his being essentially UNAWARE it was even in his hand HOWEVER IF he had gotten shot I would have NO compunction over the fact if it were ruled SELF DEFENSIVE by the guy in the truck.

Some things to ponder here. If no vehicle was behind the driver of pickup, why not throw it in reverse, get the heck out of dodge if possible? He seemed pretty calm so, why not make the guy a hood ornament the moment he spotted the gun? Lots of questions and makes one thoughtful to how one would react if found in similar situation!

ETA: Looked like a residential neighborhood as well. Maybe not a good spot to start a shootout?

Ability. Intent. Opportunity.

Having a weapon brandished does not constitute the use of deadly force. Now once he advanced and got physical it's game on.

Just like cops can't shoot someone simply due to the fact they have a pistol or blade in their hand. They have to make movement with it. Either advancing towards you or beginning to raise the weapon.

So the road rager guy didnt have the ability to shoot thru the windshield too?

Im not certain I agree cops have to wait till someone brandishing a gun is raising or moving it...

I was in a somewhat similar situation and guy looked like he was going to exit vehicle. It's on video and I posted it earlier. I had 5.56 that can be fired with stock folded on my lap in case he came out with a gun. I can deploy that gun probably faster than my edc due to how it is "stowed".

I think you have to do what you think is right and what you are most confident in for that situation. For me I would be more comfortable having a bead on the guy the moment he stepped out with his gun. Then issues commands. If any threatening move you would have to take action. Using vehicle leaves more unknowns imo. Will you get shot trying to evade? Will you get shot trying to mow him down? Having a bead on him at distance I'm confident of the shots required before he could raise his gun if god forbid he did that. Also the fact you are saying "stop! Get back!" Or whatever could also be helpful as it's on video.

I'm not saying using vehicle to either evade or attack is wrong at all. It may be the best option for a given situation. Lots of unknowns, and attackers can be unpredictable. Use whatever seems right and you are confident in. Just my opinion.
