I wonder when everyone will figure out this isn't registering guns.... it's registering gun owners.

Ever notice that when you have a background check at a gunshop, they take the SN of the firearm? Now every time every firearm switches owners, the State Police get the SN and who owns it. By definition that's firearm registration.

Doesn't happen when I buy a rifle in Washington state or Idaho.

It's owner registration as it let's them know what guns you have for sure. Just putting a name with the number.

Funny. The socialists did it with the democratic party. Reminds me of Ronald Reagan, "I didn't leave the Democratic party, it left me".
Same theme of my letter to my Representative Dist 51

"I am a law abiding citizen, but if your bill passes, it will draw the line.
I won't have moved, but SB941 will have moved it.
I am one of many that think this way.
If you vote against this bill, my opinion of you will rise by leaps and bounds.
If you vote for this bill, I will remember you."

Na we are registered already,as soon as you bought a handgun or got a carry permit.I think they don't really know how many guns we have and want to get some idea of what is really out there.

They do ,in fact take the SN off of every weapon that goes thru their stores.Unless it is there less than 24hrs,they must do this.

In Wa.St., yes. The FFL takes the SN. Here in Oregon, along with the FFL, the State Police take the number. With 941, they will now have a record of every legal transfer of firearm - be that through an FFL or father to son. In a generation, they will have either every firearm and it's owner accounted for and on record or they have illegal weapons unaccounted for.

In 20 years I can envision out in the forest shooting and having an officer check your weapon to see if it belongs to you. That's isn't tin-foil cutting off the blood to the brain either. That's the natural progression of tyranny.

If an FFL has any gun,in any state, come thru the store they record the SN
And NY is already doing the gun checks. You have real registration there, you have to have it with you I believe

I think some of you are giving the democrats too much credit. This bill was copy and pasted from WA, and bought by Bloomberg's billions. There were better proposals brought forward to achieve a BGC without registration, but they were 100% ignored. The dems knew they had to deliver this bill to repay all that election money. Those of you calling democrats communist progressive liberals don't really understand how much they have changed. The democrats are pretty much where the republicans were 30 years ago, still answering to big money, not the people. Remember Nixon? He created the EPA, the clean air+water acts, the endangered species act, and OSHA. He was a republican in case you forgot. There are probably 5 members of congress that are true progressive liberals today. The much-hated health care bill was primarily a hand-out to health insurance companies. Our democracy has been bought, it seems the only time the people are listened to is when they clog the streets by the thousands and refuse to leave. The only long-term solution is to get the money out of politics.

You're wrong. There are pro-2a dems. Ever heard of a BlueDogDem?

And don't forget, I"m talking about being able to vote primaries to help control what the choice is for the general. you forgot, didn't you...

You talking about those dogs who are all bark before showing their bellies every election?

You'll never get the money out of politics. In that regard, we are screwed. Regarding this legislation - the puppet masters will not be happy until the United States is like Europe. We will have Europe style gun control (elimination), just a matter of when.

And let's not forget Reagan banned full-auto...

Lets cease reaching back into the 20th century to implicate Republicans in Firearms Restrictions and focus on say the last 15 years & which Party has done the most damage in that time frame...o_O

Kinda cute how y'all are trying to blame a party for this. Same as blaming the puppet,er the president for anything.
They are just doing what they are told by powers WAY bigger than our government, like the folks who own most the planet?

i dont blame parties .. its a rationale that anti's have established and propagated throughout the media. its about reducing the threat that an armed population puts against its government. keep us pliable. next we will see a federal police force that wont answer to local leaders etc etc.

Is Oregon a lost cause? Does it make sense to gather with like minded pro-gun folks to retain as much local control as possible for as long as possible?

Social media can allow us to organize into a very politically effective group. however, we should be smart about it -- gather in states where the pro- ideology is the majority. create a path for new like minded folks to join us and purge those who seek to undermine from within.

I'm a native Oregonian .. its not my wish to lose my home but I cannot be blind to the take-over that is happening right before me.

If Oregon is not worth fighting for (I'm fighting for Far Nor Cal/ Jefferson) THEN WHY DID YOU DEFEND IT AS SO WONDERFUL & HAVING a "Free State" Firearms atmosphere here at this very forum/board not long ago ?o_O

Those living in 51 state of Jefferson is no different than the Northern Oregonians.
We're all brothers and sisters, and have family and friends all over Oregon. Most of us love our State, and we hate it being abused. I'm happy when I see Californians finally understanding why Oregon is a great place. Oregon is a mentality and a sacrifice. Just read about all the people who came here instead of trying to get rich quick in California during the gold rush. Why the hell would anyone move to Oregon and work against its nature and the mentality that has been cultivated from that nature?

The people in power are trying to make us submit. It's like yelling at an active earthquake to stop. These people will lose in the long run, but I suppose it depends on how much winning we want to give them before they lose. Do we want to have everything registered first? They want our names and addresses, and eventually to shut down the system so selling/buying firearms. It will make transferring firearms too hard. So where do we stand?

We have beautiful and lush forests. High plains too. The beach, not so much for sunbathing though.
But just like the town of Rock Ridge*, TPTB, want us to leave or submit.

This song is what's happening to our State, just replace Rock Ridge with "Oregon":
