You have two choices. Butch or Fem. I've worked with both types. The Fem's were easier to get along with. The Butch type always had an axe to grind.
Always a lot of drama in their personal lives.

What's to understand? Take a look at lesbian couples, real lesbians not pornho ones. What do you notice 100% of the time? There's one who's more feminine, and one who's more masculine. They may both have X chromosomes, but they are still fulfilling the stereotypical male/female relationship whether they care to admit it or not. That's my take anyway.

There used to be a lesbian bar under the Morrison bridge in Portland. I happened to walk in one night not knowing what it was.
I thought I had found heaven, it was packed with chicks, most of them were really hot looking, but some looked like J. Edger Hoover's ugly brother.
And when I tried talking to one of the cute ones, I met her butch girlfriend.
It didn't take me long to figure I was going to get my *** kicked if I persisted in hanging around. Years later, one of my coworkers took me back to the same place and I had a great time.

This is some of what I don't understand. If a Lesbian is attracted to women, why couple with a Butch? Why not just get a boyfriend ?

I meet a lot of lesbians in the RV business. They seem to live RV'ing. I suspect it gives them additional privacy. Regardless the Butch types outnumber the Fems and they can be like dealing with wild boars. One thing I have noticed - and I was discussing this the other day with a co-worker - no matter how 'congenial' they may be at first, if something does not go their way they become Completely Unreasonable And Irrational. Almost like flipping a light switch. And they are worse when dealing with men and they change into their anti-man suit almost instantly. We do have one lesbian customer who is the exception. She is funny, always easy to get along with and quite frankly would be a kick to hang around with. She likes camping, fishing and shooting and well, is really like being around guys because that is exactly how she comes off, like one of the guys. No femininity about her but then not really 'Butch' either.

Same experience! Walked into Lesbian bar/ pizza joint and was greeted by the most feral growl I have ever heard! I left!

This is no doubt true. I wonder if the same is true with homosexual men? The reason is because many years ago a girlfriend's sister had a good male friend who was gay. When we would go to Portland to visit her sister he would hang out with us and one evening the sister told me it would be ok for me to ask him questions as she had informed him I had questions about it so we were out one night and I told him I had just one question - How do men who are gay (or think they are) enter into same sex relationships? His answer was not what I expected - He explained to me gay men do not play the standard courtship 'games' heteros do IE. the chasing around, dating, phone calls at all hours of the day etc. He said gay men know what they want immediately and forgo all the typical hetero activity for immediate gratification.

I've been a practicing Psychologist for 25 years and have seen a pattern of childhood sexual abuse in 100% of more than 500 homosexual practicing individuals I have counseled. In every case the individual chose a defense method to deal with the childhood trauma. Some chose to become very tough and aggressive so that they wouldn't be hurt again. I hear these referred to as "Butch". Others chose a defense to believe that the abuse was a way of showing love, these individuals are often softer in appearance. Nearly all individuals I've encountered that live a homosexual lifestyle show symptoms of using disassociation as their primary defense mechanism, often coupled with identity disorder. An interesting note, after dealing with childhood trauma in a counseling environment, more than 95% loose interest in the homosexual lifestyle and seek out a relationship with the opposite gender. This has applied to both men and women.

Now Trail, given your experience how about this one, young woman engages in a long term lesbian relationship, then has sex with a man (while still in the lesbian relationship), bears the child and stays in the lesbian relationship. Any insight on this?
