Seattle wont prosecute the theft. they have better things to do.

All lots of places want to do for property crimes now is give you a report# for your insurance. I guess if the police solve the crime they stand to make zero money for their department, whereas if a cop writes you a ticket they could rake in a couple hundred+ , so why waste time investigating crimes, right?:eek:

A private detective I'm friends with has 'helped' the police solve many crimes in cases where the cops just would not investigate for one reason or another. In one case the homeowner kept calling and annoying the police wondering when they would solve her theft case & the police decided they weren't interested. It was pretty obviously an inside job: wealthy (new money) lady left her very valuable jewelry laying around until most of it disappeared & then the cleaning people did too. Anyway the PI wrote up a complete report and handed it in to the police, they went ahead and arrested the cleaners and recovered the valuables-- You do hafta get right onto cases of theft before the items are resold too many times
