As we know, we are in a war. It really comes down to public opinion in Oregon because of the ballot measures. Public opinion isn't always or probably very often about facts it's about feelings. After all isn't that how we got to this point? The media only wants to show so "called mass shootings".
We need a different approach....
We need to highlight stories of people that are "adorable" enjoying firearms. What comes to mind is the cute little girls who compete in shooting sports. Second might be disabled vets or people of color competing. Show Olympians who have dreams of winning shooting sports competition. I've seen a few but if we are going to change minds we have to build "good feelings". We know the left is all about feelings. That's the only way you are going to get people with their heels dug in to consider a different view.
"Passing measure 44 will make these girls criminals, is that what you want?" Or something like that.

The real power in public opinion is money, lots of it to buy your politicians. It doesn' matter what the political stand is if you give them enough money they will do your bidding. If gun owners want politicians to stand behind the constitution then we have to give our politicians more than Bloomberg does or George Soros does. Bloomberg gave Kate a million to push SB941, how much did Soros give her and to what end?

I like the idea, in fact it's similar to what many try to do here - introduce non-gun people to guns and gun owners, to let them see the positive side of gun ownership. The real question though is how do we get the message out on a much larger scale. The media, for the most part, is highly unlikely to help us with this task - and if we don't have them, then how do we do it? Even buying ad time in media is a potential bust because, as I understand it, they're not obligated to take any ads they don't want to run. Only exception would be for some types of political advertising.

Any thoughts on how to actually get that message out on a large scale?

In answer here, I would recommnd setting up and donating to, events hosted at ALL ranges, and to run advertisements and billboards! This is a good place to spend some anti money for the fight and the cause!
Get a bunch of folks to donate time, ammo and supplies, get the local venders, and community involved! We need to change up what we do, and how we do it if we are going to keep our GOD Given rights! If we could all come together in support of this, we stand a much better chance then holding matches and rallies, and donating to pro gun groups who cannot stand against this! This would be a great way to win back some ground and solidify the positions of those quiet masses, and bring new folks into the fold! :)

As I have said many times before :
Perception matters more than truth , to many people.

Anything that we can do to show guns and gun owners in a positive light to as many non gun people that we can , we should do.
Be it:
A "Ad Campaign"...
Area Clean Up...
A "Firearms aren't evil and neither are Gun Owners" type rally , march , display , etc...
Just being careful with how you present yourself , when doing anything with firearms , goes a long way in helping...
Offering to help with Firearm Safety Classes...

But as was posted above , money is also key....it isn't hard to fight City Hall...But if you want to win...you gotta have the time and the dough....

I think plenty of folks in Oregon would be willing to help support the fight financially, IF they know there is a good, solid plan and they can see some results. Problem with donating to groups like OFF and the NRA is you really don't know what, if anything, they're actively doing to fight on our behalf. Many have been burned by the promise of protecting their rights only to see lackluster performance or a complete no show. But demonstrate that something good is happening, and having an impact, I think you'd see plenty of funds start rolling in.

My family are amoung those who feel severey burned! We had 12 life memberships with the NRA, and several family members donated $$$$$ every year, and for what? When did the NRA ever set one pinky toe in OryGun? When did they ever take up the fight? Sorry folks, but were all on our own here on Or.
Th is is why it' so important to get the message out, and do it in a positive manor, we cannot count on any help, and we certainly have no New York Billionares to fund things on our behalf! :(

This in a nutshell!!! I am a longtime NRA life member that keeps on touch with the representatives for Washington. I feel, like many Oregonians do, that we are on our own in this fight because all we get is "notified" when anti gun bills are inflicted on citizens. They mean to activate the populace and maybe show up at a few inquiries, nothing more, it is not working!!!
Ask yourself this question about OFF.... The same thing, all lip service. It's not working!!!

I do know that we need to reach out to those who are gun owners and non gun owners to get them activated, show them that we are not evil, as stated above.
It's been past time for all gun owners and pro 2A people to come together, STOP THE SQUABBLING and get to work saving our rights.

My first post on northwest firearms. I don't know what the laws are for billboards, but I'd like to see billboards like this, but only if it might sway some to the pro-gun side:

http://www.meoso.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/people_who_think_you_should_be_able_to_own_guns.jpg

That could also be an ad in newspapers, or perhaps print them on 8.5 x 11 and distribute them somehow. Might be good to get rid of Obama's photo - that would offend many anti-gun people, and the goal is to sway them, not offend them - although photos of the chief petitioners of IP43 might be OK.

Would TV commercials like these sway some people?

Government tells citizens how many bullets they can have:

This one is hilarious:

Another good one:

Yes, I think the fist video is the most plausible and would possibly sway some non-firearms owner's opinions. But there is no way that this would ever be allowed on socialist TV. The way I try to explain it to non-gun owners is this. Do you have insurance for your car, home, health, etc…? When they inevitably answer yes I ask them why do you have it? Most will reply you never know when something un expected is going to happen and I will need it. Next, I ask them if money is not an issue would you rather have the least coverage which may not be enough to protect you or would you rather the best coverage possible? Of course they will answer the best.

Now let's apply this analogy to self-protection. If you wanted to protect yourself with a firearm would you be better protected with 7 bullets or 30? The answer is clear. It is a form of insurance that you can control allowing us a better chance of protection especially since you never know what you may come up against.

Having Obummer in there alienates people and dilutes the message. He was bad, but not Stalin bad .

You might use the words of Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler in the Friday, April 13 Oregonian article "Wheeler makes case for more police". The article says: "He cited the experience of one carjacking victim, who waited an hour for police to respond to the call."
Wheeler makes plea for more police in State of the City address

That doesn't sound like a place where the government should be infringing on anyone's right to keep and bear arms.

Here is a report on restrictions on firearms possession and ownership in Syria. It comes from this website: Guns in Syria — Firearms, gun law and gun control

Regulation of Automatic Weapons
In Syria, private possession of fully automatic weapons is prohibited
Regulation of Handguns
In Syria, private possession of handguns (pistols and revolvers) is permitted under licence
Law Regulates Long Guns
In Syria, civilian possession of rifles and shotguns is regulated by law20

How is this working out?

Love him or hate him, President Trump stated after Las Vegas that it was not a gun issue, but a mental health issue. That should at least be one of the major points. How many killers have given numerous clues, even stating what they would soon do - and were ignored.

Oh, Trump said it, it must be true. Come on, the guy is a pathological liar. The last thing anyone should do is bring up something he said, even if it happens to be true.

Not to be rude, but I don't recall all these lefty antis existing until after they closed all these mental institutions.
It seems the 1970's rolled in they closed these places and then all these wackos are roaming the street. I know people laugh
but for some liberals its like a addiction to them to just go all off the tracks. Thats what we used to call someone who was mental or had retardation, we now call them anti-gun leftys. Again this si not funny nor rude its just nuts how there is more nuts out here. And many crimes are committed by many that should not be on out patient care.
I don't know but if we don't start addressing that mental health issue swaying will be hard.

Secondly, we need to sway our side to realize camo, boonies and open carry AR's do not represent most of the gun owners in our state so please just act normal enough not to appear like a movie prop at events !

We should point out that the state has started to address the mental health issue with the new law that allows confiscation if a person is a threat to themselves or others. This new law should have stopped Parkland. Which other mass shootings should this law have prevented - we need a list.
