Reduced Errors = Reduced Transfer Times

What can you do to minimize your transfer time? According to the ATF, these are the top five form errors that lead to delays:
  1. Missing photos - Each RP must submit two passport-style photographs taken within the last 6 months and affixed to the appropriate space on the Form 4 or RPQ.
  2. Fingerprint cards incomplete - Each RP must submit two completed fingerprint cards. Although a social security number is optional, it can help reduce false-positives.
  3. Responsible Person Questionnaires (RPQ) - None submitted, too few/too many submitted based on trust documents. Each RP identified in trust documents must submit a Form 5320.23 RPQ.
  4. Trust/Individual names do not match on forms - The Form 4 applications for individuals should list one name only. Form 4 applications for a trust should list the trust name exactly as it appears in the trust documents and should not include the individual names of any RP's.
  5. Missing transferor (dealer) signature/date - Make certain that your dealer has signed and dated your application.
Make sure that your Form 4 submissions are complete and correct and all supporting documentation is included to prevent delays. There is nothing worse than waiting six months for approval, only to receive an error letter that requires you to fix a mistake before you can receive your suppressor.
