Didn't watch yet. I fixed NVGs in the Army. A collimator is a device that you mount the nvg into that helps you align the left and right side optics into one view. So, for a single optic I'm guessing it's just to align it down the one tube.

I vaguely remember looking through what was most likely one of these in the late 70's, early 80's on a rifle at a gun show.
A friend bought a couple of Calico 22s and had Aimpoints on them, 87-88ish. I didn't like them at all. In fact, I didn't like the guns OR the optics! The guns jammed and I wasn't used to anything like that Aimpoint. A normal scope was a lot easier to use and I was biased against the Aimpoint name.
These days I am sticking my toes into the pistol optic market and find that Aimpoint is an upper tier optic company. Well, I'll be damned...
If I was going to keep the Ruger #3 I have for sale, I could see a good RDS optic on it would be a viable option.
