I have a couple of the small Holosuns, one on a G17.5 and one on a Benelli shotgun. Both function 100%.

I've met people who've broken their Holosuns. Other than dropping them onto concrete I don't know how you can do this. Remember when we were kids and there was always a kid who could break any toy or appliance he got his hands on? Those people are now grown up and still breaking cars, phones, and everything else.

FWIW my favorite red dot is an Aimpont M68.

In my experience, physical breakage is pretty rare. I can only think of one instance where that happened; a coworker had the solar thingy self-eject while pretending to enjoy shooting his Grock.

I've had 2 of them fail for no apparent reason. Just stopped working. When I used to teach gun shooting semi-professionally, I saw similar instances of them just giving up because they didn't like the high AZ desert, I suppose.

It's a matter of trust. Right now, any red dots I have are on guns that I have characterized as ones that would save my life if a determined ghoul decided what I had was something he wanted bad enough to turn it into a gunfight. Am I going to trust that that Holosun is going to work, or the Trijicons that I've not personally see exit the stage without warning?

Red dots only on some guns? Sacrilege!!!! (J/k). I'm over 25 red dots but not sure how many.

That's only possible financially for me by having value res dots on range and target guns and have had excellent luck with them. For guns with more serious duties a better red dot is called for, for my use anyway.

My favorite is circle dots/mukti-reticle. Don't know why but I aquire the target so much faster with those.
