Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any "semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General."
to be turned in no keeping them this time

It is all over the net as the “new ban list” so you can find numerous “sources” but it a product of the 1994 AWB, which spells out all the evil features like folding stock, flash suppressors, bayonet lugs, etc. and specially names the “assault weapons” of the day. That is why the SCAR, ACR, etc are not on that list, they did not exist at the time it was written.

hmm...good point. But i see mak90 on the list....wasn't the mak90 just an AK with some cosmetic surgery to make it ban compliant after the '94 ban was crapped upon us? they were allowed at the time.....not saying yay or nay on the list but the mak90 caught my eye

Yahoo, com front page... Yeah, not a chance a ban is comming. lol with a sick feeling in my stomach.

As President Barack Obama approaches his second and final term, he will have to decide where to be ambitious, where to be cautious and where to buy time. A look at some of the big issues Obama will have to tackle when he returns to Washington after a Hawaiian vacation:
___
GUN CONTROL
Nothing lends an issue a sense of urgency like a harrowing tragedy that leaves the nation feeling shell-shocked. Shortly after the Dec. 14 school shooting in Connecticut, Obama said gun control would be a central issue in his second term, and named an interagency task force to recommend anti-violence legislation, with Vice President Joe Biden taking the lead. Meanwhile, pro-gun Democrats and even a few Republicans have expressed a willingness to consider new gun regulations, a shift that many have described as a "tipping point" in the age-old efforts to impose more stringent restrictions on gun ownership.
But the National Rifle Association has made clear it won't play ball. Instead of new gun laws, the NRA's chief executive officer proposed putting armed guards in every school, highlighting the sizable rift between gun-rights advocates and gun-control supporters that will complicate Obama's efforts to get something through Congress.
Obama's Democratic predecessor, President Bill Clinton, pushed an assault weapons ban through the Democratic-led Congress in 1994, prompting fierce pushback from gun-rights groups. Clinton later would credit the NRA with shifting the House majority to the GOP for the first time in 40 years, although other factors including a House bank scandal played big roles, too. The Clinton-era ban expired in 2004 and has not been renewed.

So the Attorney General, who'd is an unconvicted felon IMHO, gets carte Blanche to deficate all over out constitutional rights?
Sounds about right.
And since crap for brains Biden was an author of the last ban it only makes sense that the new song sounds a lot like the 1994 tune.

Well if the Mak90 had to do with the AWB of 1994 wouldn't it be called the Mak94?

Import AK's (since that is what you are talking about) have been and STILL are illegal unless all the "evil" features are removed. It has been this way since 1989 due to the ban on importing "non-sporting" firearms. This is why classic HK's, AK's, FAL's, Galil's Uzi's, ect are expensive, they are illegal to import.

thanks for the info!

The list looks quite similar to the roberti-roos list from CAs 1989 ban with a few additions. I always thought it was interesting that they included the PSG-1 on the list - how many shootings were done with a $5k + rifle?

You all are aware that Harry R., some NV Dem rep "stands shoulder to shoulder" with Wayne LaP, a certain somebody in a gun club: <broken link removed>

Harry Reid is also staunchly opposed to the so-called assault weapons ban, played a critical role in passing a law to protect gun manufacturers from junk lawsuits, and consistently votes to protect Nevadans' Second Amendment rights. In recognition of his work, the National Rifle Association asked Nevadans to thank Senator Reid for his lifelong commitment to the protecting these crucial liberties, calling him "a true champion of the Second Amendment."

The house minority leader has an NRA A rating and probably needs it to survive elections in his district, like many other local Democrats. The CCW'ing Pelosis can speak, but the people of the US will also speak and have spoken in the past after the 94 ban.

I don't think there's much to fear for the next 2 years. That doesn't mean we shouldn't keep our congressmen and -women informed of our convictions and voting preferences...

Below is the link the Feinstein's page on her AWB bill that she wants to introduce in January. It doesn't list the weapons but note that that it bans any semiautomatic rifle, handgun or shotgun that can accept a detachable magazine and has one military characteristic. The existing weapons are grandfathered in but they must be registered under the National Firearms Act.

I don't see this lunacy actually happening.

It really doesn't look much different than any of the proposed bans Feinstein tries pushing every year.
This is her only hope at leaving a legacy; In the end she'll just leave.
