I made a pretty HD shoty out of a 870 Wingmaster a 20" barrel and a 2rd extension. Wanted nothing to do with a vent rib.

Only photo is above.
It's a Rem 870 Express, an inexpensive version of the 870. It was my waterfowl gun for years, without a failure. So I trust it!
Originally a vent rib, 30" barrel and birch stocks.
I added a set of Remington 870 Marine stocks, from a member here.
A Choat magazine extension. Then I had Velsey chop and recrown the barrel and install the rifle sights! That's pretty much it! I like to say, "It never failed me in the duck blind with sleet clinging to it, and I don't think it will fail me at my front door!" ;)

Velsey does great work, BTW! Hope this helps!
